The space
This hillside haven has a host of additional delights, including being only less than 2 hours drive to the idyllic beaches at the Gower peninsula or an hours drive to the Welsh capital , Cardiff.
Combined with it’s gorgeous interior, cosy comforts and stunning views it truly is a wonderful retreat for family and friends. Tranquility really does reign here and guests are spoiled for choice when it comes to finding a spot to relax.

Penlan sleeps 16 guests and is beautifully furnished throughout with an eclectic selection of antique and modern furniture along with some wonderful quirky touches that befit a 16th century home.
There is direct access to the mountain and peaceful forests where you will find breathtaking walks, or why not try a beautiful much flatter canal walk from Gilwern or Brecon.
At meal times gather around the magnificent hand made dining table, milled from our own wood from a fallen Oak Tree on the estate.
There’s plenty of parking (up to 4 cars in front of the house with a further 6 spaces available in a nearby graveled area). An orchard area to sit in with fire pit and BBQ , plus all our delicious water is fresh from a mountain spring.
Penlan Farmhouse is designed for a crowd, with a large cooking range, large fridge and two dishwashers in the kitchen and 3 rooms that have versatile zip-and-link beds that can be either a superking or made into twin beds.

• Some of the ground floor is not accessible for wheelchairs - Step access between all ground floor areas. Gravel area outside. Unfortunately due to the age of the house there are many different levels which are not easily accessed with a wheelchair.

General
• We can put you in touch with local chefs that can come to Penlan to cook a special meal, or fully cater during your entire stay. We find it’s easier for guests to make arrangements directly with the chef etc, as often the arrangements are tailored to suit your needs. We can also recommend other services such as yoga teachers ( Yoga is best suited to outdoors as not possible to accommodate indoors), walking guides, babysitters etc. The services of any third party are arranged directly with the service provider and don’t form part of the contract you have with Penlan.
We have tried to think about everything to make your stay at Penlan just perfect. We provide all the essential features to cater for a large group. Here’s a list of all the practical provisions we have at the house. If there’s anything you can’t see here but need, just ask as we’ll see what we can do.
• We provide basic kitchen ingredients and house hold items such as Tea, Coffee, Sugar, cooking oil, salt and pepper, kitchen roll, linen napkins, dishwasher tablets, basic laundry supplies, cleaning supplies, eco paraben free handwash, organic body and hair wash, along with toilet paper in every bathroom.
• Luxury bed linens, option of extra feather or microfibre pillows, luxury feather duvets and mattress toppers, extra large sized fluffy towels, hand towels and face cloths.
• The kitchen has plenty of wine glasses, serving platters and bowls along with some baking equipment and a hand mixer, plus all the usual essential items for your stay. For your comfort we have two fridges , one smaller one for wine and beverages and the other pantry style fridge/freezer for your fresh produce. There are two dishwashers at your disposal plus a microwave and a large gas hob range ( electric ovens )
• Washing machine & tumble dryer ( basic products supplied)
• Hairdryers in all bedrooms ( some with diffusers)
• Cleaning equipment, clothes air dryer, iron and ironing board supplied
• Smart TV in the snug. Various games and books provided.
• WiFi of 80Mbps throughout the main areas of the house
• Log burners in both farmhouse snug and barn ( logs provided ).
• Cosy blankets are provided for cuddling up on the sofa
• Two adjoining rooms in the snug for meditation/solo yoga or a desk for work.
Outside
• 4 acres of gardens and hundreds of acres of surrounding fields that lead to the top of the Sugar Loaf Mountain ( fields either side of the long drive belong to the neighbour so please refrain from walking in these). Fields that immediately suround the house you are welcome to walk in.
• Outside benches, Charcoal BBQ and Fire pit area.
Electric vehicle charger available. We expect fair and reasonable usage of the free EV charger, but any energy used to a value of more than £100 during your stay will incur an extra charge per unit of electricity used.
Children
• 1 travel cot available - linen provided
• 1 high chair available and removable baby gate
• Please Note - there is an unprotected pond towards the back of the house. Please exercise caution, particularly with children and supervise at all times.
We regret that currently we do not allow pets.
Guest access
Sole use (all of the house and garden). Direct access to walks on the Sugar Loaf Mountain from the house. Fields either side of the long driveway belong to neighbour, so please do not walk in those. Fields immediately surrounding the house you have full access to walk in.
