We had the most wonderful stay in this charming cabin nestled on the property of a windmill in Alkmaar. From the moment we arrived, our hosts Kelly and Han made us feel completely at home. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect—so kind, welcoming, and full of great local tips. The cabin itself is a dream—coziness taken to the next level. Every detail was thoughtfully put together, and it was the perfect place to unwind to relax. Waking up next to a windmill felt like something out of a fairytale. Alkmaar itself is a beautiful village full of history, with adorable shops and restaurants to explore. The charming canals add to the magical atmosphere, and it’s easy to hop on a train to Amsterdam for a day trip. We’re already dreaming of our return and feel so lucky to have made such lovely new friends in Kelly and Han. Highly recommend this magical spot to anyone visiting The Netherlands!

A unique place with lots of peace and bird sounds in a special village. The cottage is particularly furnished, as if we were going back in time, but with comfort. Old toys (such as the jodel court with marbles) serves as decoration. Walking around the island is recommended, we saw many birds such as the grutto, kievit and tureluur). Recommended!

We really enjoyed Jim's guest house with its interesting setting. A very hospitable host greeted us. Bunnies were running around on the lawn and ducks were swimming in the canal. The general atmosphere is very conducive to relaxation. Natalya from Kazakhstan

Thank you Vera for being a great host, we had a wonderful stay with you on our first visit to the Netherlands! A perfect location for travel to Amsterdam, zaanse schan, the beach & the surrounding area. Our children loved the play park & football pitch up the street! Very peaceful village to come back to after days out and we was very lucky with the weather so could enjoy the garden area in the sunshine. Thank you for the delicious breakfasts!! Would highly recommend anyone to visit!!

We went on vacation to the Netherlands and stayed at Judith's house. She was always very attentive to us in case we needed anything, something to eat or whatever. She brought us plenty of food and was always very kind to us. The house is great and we were very comfortable. Thank you very much for everything, Judith!

We had a wonderful stay! The place was lovely, surrounded by beautiful scenery, and even better than the pictures. It was perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway. We can’t wait to come back!

We really enjoyed staying in the house, it was spacious with a good garden. Convenient near a supermarket and centre of Alkmaar. Responsive hosts and good instructions. Strongly recommend.
