Our apartment is in one of the first loft conversion buildings in Cape Town. So it's not an attempt at trying to create the loft feeling. It actually was an industrial building that was converted to a loft. We have subsequently renovated the apartment and taken it to a very high level. The apartment building 'Westside Studios" is very safe and secure and has 24-hour security at the front desk! Solid wooden flooring softens the feeling of the apartment making it very cosy. The kitchen is brand new and has all the items you would expect in a well-equipped kitchen. Granite counter tops with bar stools makes the kitchen counter a very convenient work space. Appliances include a brand new Bosch fridge / freezer combo, microwave, dishwasher, oven & hob, washing machine & tumble dryer. The bathroom is new, modern and fairly compact with a shower. We have installed a freestanding bath on the mezzanine level for a different touch. Downstairs is all open plan living and you can see paragliders on Signal Hill and the sky changing colour at sunset. There is a flat screen TV with satellite TV, Netflix and a small selection of DVD's. There is a very comfortable queen-sized bed on the mezzanine level. By far one of the best beds we have ever purchased. The apartment has air-conditioning and heating. There is a secure parking bay in the building with 24-hour security at the front desk. There is a 24-hour convenience store downstairs, which has most of the items you will need for a short stay. The Company's Garden is 2 minutes’ walk away and is a great place to unwind. There are loads of good coffee shops in the city centre and also restaurants for all budgets. We are a short walk from the flower sellers of Adderley Street, the night life of Long Street, and Greenmarket Square, the city’s best-loved flea market. There is also a fabulous independent book seller on our street and Truth coffee shop is around the corner, voted the best coffee shop in the world ((SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Travel). The apartment block is located on the edge of the CBD in an area known as the Eastern Precinct. It built in the 1960s and is architecturally bland. The area has some beautiful old buildings spoilt by some 1950/60s structures. It is an area the city council is in the process of regenerating. There is some homelessness in the city center. The Eastern Precinct is part of the Cape Town Central City Improvement District(CCID) which is involved in cleaning and 24 hour security patrols. The CCID's work is a key reason that the Cape Town city center is regarded as the safest in the country by the South African Police Service.
