Victorian Haven is located near the Shawangunk Mountains that extends for over 20 miles and reaches 2,200 feet in height at Sam's point, the highest elevation on the ridge. In addition, the Wallkill River provides unspoiled and picturesque spots for hiking, fishing and/or picnics. Gardiner has a beautiful rail trail that follows the path of the 1860's railroad and provides a great opportunity to hike, bike or ski.
“Victorian Haven is sparkling clean and extremely comfortable. The home was stocked with amenities and any item you think you may need. It was cool all day and night, even as temperatures reached 90 degrees. There are 2 powerful air conditioners although we did not need to use them. The sunken living room had a delightful ceiling fan and the window entertained us with various lights and shadows throughout the day. From the relaxing deck on Walkill River, we saw deer, foxes, groundhogs, waterfowl, birds and lots of fish. We spent most of our 3 days here on the private deck. When we weren't on the deck, we were enjoying the area's farm stands, wineries, bbq, and swimming holes. The neighbors were friendly and so was the host. When we couldn't figure out the wi-fi, George , the host's father drove down to assist immediately. I really appreciate that. No need to look any further. This home is much more beautiful than in the photos and the value you get is unbeatable. Please keep the home clean as they don't charge a cleaning fee. Thank you! We hope to be back.”
This serene location looking up at Shawangunk Mountains in Gardiner, NY. Soothing sounds of nearby Wallkill River from the deck will lull you away from your busy life into a forest world. Cozy up near the wood burning stove for those cold winter days and enjoy the large windows through out which offer great views of the mountains, birds and wildlife. You'll be happy you stayed here!
“Jean-Michel was a fantastic host, and his place was wonderful! My husband and I live in NYC, and we run a business together - so we took a trip Upstate to get out of the city for a bit, enjoy some nature, and clear our minds to focus on some business plans for the rest of the year. We were only there for 2 nights (1 full day), and wish we would have booked the place longer! Jean-Michel had such great communication. He sent a message our way immediately upon booking with directions of how to get in, and was responsive to any questions I had throughout our stay. He mentioned that he had to stop by quickly to pick something up, but that he'd stay out of our way. I encouraged him to say hello since we were outside sitting on the gorgeous patio - and he did! We had a lovely conversation, and he shared so many local gems including trails we could hike, and things we could do in the area. He was so, so nice - which was no surprise after his great communication! And on top of that, the house is wonderful. The views are beautiful, it feels very private, the patio is so large and gorgeous, the kitchen is stocked, and there's a hammock outside! The area is a little buggy at night (we visited in June) - so we got a citronella candle and lit it while we were out on the patio having some wine, and it kept the bugs at bay as the sun went down. We also loved the super comfy couch, Smart TV, and large living room. It felt spacious and homey. We will definitely be coming back! Thanks for making it a great stay, Jean-Michel!”

“Accommodation: Highly recommend if you are looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy nature that is not too far from the city. It's about 20 min ride from other towns like Beacon, Newburg if you are looking to check out the town/local breweries. 30 min ride from Minneswaska state park and Mohonk for hikes. Great selection of breakfast choices (English muffins, cereal, bananas, yogurt, crackers, instant noodles, instant oat meals, oj, coffee, tea). Mary and Dr. Ned are very friendly. It's a clean and cozy place for 2, there is no kitchen, but they have a small fridge, microwave and toaster. We ordered takeouts for dinner and are mostly out and about during the day, so it doesn't bother us much. They have an a/c in the bedroom, enough to fill the bedroom and living room with some cool air. (it's quite noisy but we are not light sleepers, so it's OK) Transportation: We took metronorth train from NYC to Beacon, and took an Uber to the house. (Lyft does not seem to be commonly available around Hudson Valley). We got around via Uber and found that it can take average 15-20 min for an available driver at any given location around Hudson Valley. (ie. Minneswaska parking lot, Newburg, Poughkeepsie, Beacon, Marlboro), so I would recommend renting a car to get around instead.”
