Serenity niche is my little paradise located in Balan, Cap-Haitian. I'd like to share my place with anyone who want to enjoy the true beauty of nature. My little niche is about 30 minutes from the combustible life of the city. It faces the tranquil ocean surrounding by natural beauty of nature and its trees. Yet, Serenity is equipped with 24 hours electricity, modernized bathrooms and showers. Guests will have the option to visit all the touristic and historical attractions such as Citadel...
“Pascal's place was special. Out in the rural countryside in a farmhouse-like place by the bay. He was very good in communicating and excellent in giving tips. He helped me out massively by giving me a driver, who took me around town and also to the Citadelle and Palais Sans Sousi. In the house there were some very nice people who offered me local snacks and coconuts. Pascal also ensured that I met with his cousin, who was also a doctor like me and we had a great time hanging out and having a chat by the sea”

“I couldn't have asked for a better local guide/host to experience Cap Haitien and Haiti. Gregori and his family were kind and dedicated to making sure I had an excellent stay. Backpackers and intrepid travelers interested in learning about another culture and way of life, getting a real look at Haiti, and seeing something most tourists don't explore will be ever grateful for booking with Gregori. Gregori was in constant communication with me, provided I had cell service, as I traveled alone via Caribe Tours bus from Santo Domingo, DR to Cap Haitien, Haiti. He waited at the bus station for two hours for me and drove me to his home. I actually stayed in his other listing, the 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment above his house. It was sparkling clean with excellent wifi. Keep in mind, things like electricity and water pressure in Haiti are different than other parts of the world, and Gregori went above and beyond to make sure I had the best possible. There were some mosquitos in the apartment, and Gregori brought mosquito repellent coils for the room, which worked like a charm. He provided purified water and his wife made an excellent breakfast. He drove me through the city on New Year's Eve in high traffic to visit the amazing Citadelle and Sans Souci, about an hour outside of town. This site was phenomenal and completely worth it; I think I saw only two other travelers there, which made it all the better. He also drove me to Labadie Beach on the opposite end of town where we enjoyed food and I swam in a small bay surrounded by limestone rock formations. I think it would have been incredibly difficult to get around otherwise - traffic there is chaotic (similar to Cambodia) and the streets are small with motos going every which way. Gregori was an incredibly safe driver. On New Year's Day, which is also Independence Day in Haiti, Gregori's wife made traditional Independence Day soup, which I got to try before catching a bus to go back to the DR. It was delicious. Gregori used to work for the UN, and now his dream is to continue to do AirBnb and/or have a hotel that his children can take over and continue into the future. He also wants to start an organization that provides an education program to children on trash reduction, reuse and recycling. He speaks French and Creole, good English and is working on his Spanish. I'm forever grateful for our conversations, insights into Haiti and an experience I'll never forget. If you are willing to learn, have patience for long travel and live for exploring a place most people you know won't get to see, I highly recommend you go to Cap Haitien for excellent sightseeing and gaining insight from a kind-hearted family that makes this experience worthwhile. For time reference, I traveled to Cap Haitien on Dec. 30, spent all day on Dec. 31 sightseeing, then returned to the DR on Jan. 1. This was somewhat of a whirlwind trip, but I'm a fast traveler. I would recommend spending at least two days in Cap Haitian. I wish I could have gone out to Ile-a-Rat, the island, for snorkeling. Please feel free to reach out to me on AirBnb if you have any questions. I'm happy to answer them!”
