  • Mountain Brunch with the Birds
With warm weather, you'll sit in a patio-style seating arrangement facing the West slope of Pikes Peak where you can relax, enjoy the scenery, and the wildlife. I'll bring out birdseed and call out to let the birds know it's breakfast time. We'll provide you with all the birdseed you need to keep our feathered friends interested. I'll be available to help identify the various species of birds as they come in and provide a myriad of interesting facts about the different breeds. In cold weather, we'll start by trying to bring the Pygmy Nuthatches and Mountain Chickadees in to eat from your hand! Naturally, I can't guarantee our feathered friends will be that brave, but it happens often! Then, come inside to warm up and you can sit at our picture window and watch the birds come right up to the deck. Although our birds change with the seasons, we always have Stellar Jays, Pinyon Jays, and big, noisy Nutcrackers, as well as several varieties of Nuthatches and Woodpeckers, and a variety of small finches. In the meantime, we'll serve coffee, hot cocoa, or tea and warm, homemade cinnamon rolls fresh from the oven. Enjoy the mountain air and marvel in the beauty of nature for as long as you'd like on our mountain property. Other things to note Children typically don't have the patience for bird-watching. No pets. In the event of bad weather, I will cancel this event and refund you

  • Hiking with Stunning Views/Photo Shoot
For more photos check out @woodvilledream and the #summitcountyphototours. Come join me and see stunning views of mountains and Lake Dillon. We will go on a short hike around Sapphire Point seeing amazing views of Breckenridge Peak 1, Mount Royal, Mount Buffalo, Frisco and Dillon. See the whole lake from this area as we hike around the bluff. This will be about a 30min hike. I will capture your moments from this amazing lookout point. The hike is one of my favorite viewing areas in Summit County, CO. Perfect for visitors or Summit County dwellers, solo travelers, couples, groups and families. After the hike I will provide photos that will be edited and sent to you through a web gallery within one week from our tour date. Kiddos are welcome. Free for under 5 years old. Dogs are welcome as it is a pet friendly area. Dogs need to be on a leash. Check out #summitcountyphototours for more photos of the experience! Other things to note Weather changes quickly in Colorado so please allow for that when picking out your outfits. For winter months please dress in winter boots as this trail can be a bit icy. For Summer months remember to bring an extra jacket or sweatshirt. Late summer months check for rain in forecast when booking.

  • Patio Spirits or Wine Tasting
Looking for a fun way to learn more about wine or spirits? Join us for a physically-distanced tasting on our patio! We are experts in mezcal, tequila, Japanese and American whisk(e)y, plus the wider world of wine, and we have access to rare and special bottlings. We've traveled to more than 12 countries and 40 distilleries and wineries for first-hand knowledge of production processes. And we want to share it with you and your guests. For this one-of-a-kind experience, you will join us at Jimmy's restaurant before we begin dinner service. Jimmy's co-owners and spirits experts Jessica or Jimmy, or bar manager and spirits expert Chris, will explore the genre of spirits or wine that you have pre-selected. We will customize your tasting based on what type of information you'd like to learn. You may choose to taste a selection of mezcal, tequila, Japanese or American whisk(e)y. We are also able to offer a selection of rare, highly sought-after spirits that you can't find anywhere else for an additional fee. You will be talking about this exclusive one-and-a-half-hour-long event well after your trip to Aspen as one of the highlights. It's a great way to learn more about a particular spirit from a professional in a safe, physically distanced environment. If you don't see your desired time available, please contact us directly.

  • Learn Astrophotography in the Mountains
Experience Colorado Astrophotography by taking stunning photos of the stars against the Rocky Mountains . The night photography tours are usually between 3-3.5 hours and begin after sunset at the scheduled time. We have access to Colorado's greatest parks and know all the hidden back roads that have some of the most stunning views. Quandary peak, Loveland pass, and Guanella are some of the locations we set up at. Please look up moon phase and rise/set times. We can still go when the moon is out, it just dilutes the amount of stars captured, but we can get stars in any condition other than rain or snow. I have a jeep that easily fits 4 guests and we go to to Loveland pass. You can bring your own DSLR camera or we will provide one for you. If you bring your own, please email us so we can make sure you have the right type of lens you need for optimal use. We are also happy to meet you anywhere you might be (within reason) so if you want to meet in a mountain town you are visiting, we are usually willing to meet up with you where you are. We drive about 30 min into the darkness, then spend another 30min getting cameras on their best settings. After that, we head to stunning mountain views to fish for shooting stars. We stay close to the car, and I teach you how to take optimal photos. We return home with amazing photos, you keep the memory card.

  • Cheesemaking at the Mountain Goat Lodge
Class will begin at 10:00 am. After introductions and offer of coffee, water, & tea we show everyone where the restrooms are! I start with an explanation and overview of how cheese is made. I then explain the types of cheeses that we will be making that particular day, and give them an overview of how that will be done. I explain that due to time restraints, we are going to be making "fresh" cheeses, rather than aged cheeses. I pass out a supply list for home cheese making, and the recipes of each cheese we will be preparing. (These handouts are for the students to take home.) Then we begin making the cheeses from our very fresh goat milk. It is very hands on. I have people stirring milk, adding the various additives, checking the temperature, and cutting and stirring the curds. After the cheeses are finished, we are able to sample them with crackers and sometimes with other items such as figs from our garden, or tomatoes and basil. I then portion out generous samples of the cheese in containers and give them to the students to take home. NOTE: We milk our goats at 9:00am. If you are able to visit us and or stay over night in our lodge, you are welcome to watch and try the milking. Other things to note We use raw cow's milk during the winter, as we are not milking the goats. We are using fresh raw goat's milk and require a signed herd share agreement if students wish to take the cheese home or to buy additional cheeses.
