A former hunting lodge of an Indian king, but now a villa /farm house. Presents an old world charm of pre independence Princely India. Very spacious living. A very natural, serene, calm and quite place. Serves excellent fresh homely Indian food.
“Kila Dalidjoda is a rare and special place, and it felt like a gift to discover it. I stayed for over a week in the wintertime while working on a long writing project, and it could not have been a better decision for a writing retreat of that sort. The hosts are kind, interesting, and intelligent people who care very much about their home and the land and people around them. There is something very grounding about the place itself: the history of the home is palpable, vivid, and the land around it interesting to explore. When I wasn't in my spacious suite working on my own writing, I went for long walks in the forest, bicycle rides in the evening, and enjoyed (delicious, healthful, very locally sourced) mealtimes with the family. I learned a tremendous amount about the culture and economy of the communities living in the area, as well about wildlife and farm life. A remarkably peaceful and restorative time. Thank you to Debjit and his family.”
I’m always looking forward to hosting great people, travelling to bhubaneswar and aim to make each guest experience unique and exciting. Get in touch, to see if we can work out a deal for your budget. Additional key benefits are locality (distance to super markets, resturants, transportation, ATM etc) & easy access to major highways. Ideal for expatriates, families, friends, couple and business travelers.
“We (wife, husband, and two small children) stayed here for almost a month in October ‘19 and had a great stay. The house was super comfortable, Abhisek (owner) was very responsive, Sanjaya was a good housekeeper and cook (very willing to help with anything). Abhisek went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. He even got us a washing machine, English language TV channels, a car to use, arranged for Sanjaya to help us cook meals, gave us local tips about Durga puja sightseeing, and got a special kiddy pool to keep the kids entertained in the heat. I’m sure some other stuff I’m forgetting, too! Some things to know: the caretaker stays on site and sometime Abhisek drops into the house, so it isn’t a super private stay. But, the caretaker does keep the house nice and tidy, so we didn’t mind too much the compromise in privacy; the location is somewhat distant so it is really useful to have the use of a car or scooter; and, like many places in India there are some spiders and bugs inside, eek! Overall, the stay is top notch amongst the AirBNB selection available in the area. I have stayed at other ABB accommodations closer to center, and while they were moderately more private or conveniently located, they lacked the comfort, amenities, space, and outdoor living of this villa. We will stay again during future BBSR visits and would absolutely recommend to friends.”

“Shree and Durga's apartment is very comfortable and spotlessly clean. It enjoys a remarkable view of the rice field and the abundant vegetation of the village. The whole floor was at our disposal with 2 beautiful bedrooms and a bathroom with a water heater. Breakfast is served on the ground floor in a shared lounge. Possibility to dine on site. Shree, who notably takes care of the meals for the school group, has kindly provided us with the central kitchen for a cooking class offered by our driver who is an excellent cook. We visited the village with her and discovered, through several remarkable achievements, its humanitarian and ecological action for the benefit of the inhabitants with whom we were able to exchange despite the language barrier. Shree is a good person, mother of two grown daughters currently living in the United States, who radiates serenity, simplicity and kindness. We highly recommend this guesthouse, ideally placed to visit the region for several days, from Bhubaneswar to Puri and Konarak.”
