Live and Work Anywhere

Do you represent a destination that is well suited to attract the world’s growing population of remote workers?
If the answer is ‘yes’, we want to hear from you

Airbnb is launching the Live and Work Anywhere initiative to help support destinations to become the most desirable and remote-worker friendly locations around the world.

Over the last two years, the pandemic has started  a revolution in the way that many of us now live and work. Professionals across the globe have seen for themselves that they do not need to be at their office desks in order to work effectively. In turn, many have embraced the life-changing possibilities of remote work.

Partner with us

We are calling for governments, Destination Marketing Organisations and relevant nonprofits across the world to join us as a ‘Live and Work Anywhere' destination. With support from Airbnb, select destinations will work to develop a sustainable infrastructure for remote workers that also takes into consideration the existing environment and the needs and priorities of locals.

In parallel, Airbnb will create a bespoke online landing page for the destination, a one-stop shop for aspiring remote workers that showcases each partner destination. This landing page will be promoted by Airbnb, in close coordination with the destination partner.

What makes a destination remote-working-friendly

Easy to get there, stay, and get around
Our partners should have favourable mechanisms for remote workers to enter, stay, and commute around the destination, including:

  • Visa policies that facilitate remote working for travellers
  • Keeping cost of living and affordability for remote workers front of mind
  • Offering free or discounted access to public transport or car rentals

Working with destinations, governments and tourism bodies on innovating around remote work is not new for Airbnb. We’re already helping a range of urban and rural destinations by providing an opportunity for remote workers to try living there, from Chicago and Tulsa to the Caribbean, rural France and Buenos Aires. We are also consulting with governments on mobility or remote work policies, such as the governments of Italy and Malaysia.
