Compositions
Reviewing the following resource will give you additional guidance on creating high quality compositions.

Capture Variety
Ensure variety in your focal lengths by capturing wide, mid, and vertical compositions. Never capture wider than 16mm. We do not accept captures wider than 16mm because of the distortion.

Camera Height is Key
Mastering better compositions begins with the correct camera height.
Watch the following video for ways to improve your tripod technique.Do's and Dont's

Avoid capturing wide & tight

Avoid cropped exteriors

Avoid tilt

Keep your foreground clear
Objects in the foreground of a wide-angle shot will appear stretched. Take a step back, or use a tighter focal length above >35mm.

Capture exterior & surroundings
Make sure that there is balanced negative space around your exteriors with room around the sides.

Keep a level perspective
Avoid tilting your tripod up or down, this causes an awkward perspective. Keeping your tripod level will make your compositions more balanced.
Check the Edges
Keep an eye out for distracting objects that enter the edges of your frame. Adjust your perspective in order to stay focused on your subject.

What are Straight On Compositions?
When capturing interiors, please prioritize compositions captured parallel to a wall, rather than at wide angles. This alleviates distortion, and creates consistency.
