Room examples
This guide will help you identify what types of photos to take based on different types of rooms and spaces.
Exteriors
- Capture the exterior of the property from different angles, showcasing its appeal.
- Include the main entrance, façade, and any unique architectural features.
- Pay attention to lighting conditions and choose the best time of day to achieve even lighting.
- Highlight the surroundings and landscape when applicable (such as rural areas, beach or lake homes, etc.).
Parking to entrance
Guests want to know how they’ll access the space. Is it through a side gate, a lobby, or directly along the street? These images will help to connect that experience for them.
- Document the parking spot (if applicable), and all images that showcase the pathway to the entrance, such as: steps, stairs, lobbies, elevators, hallways, gates, etc.
- Capture the listing entrance (doorway threshold) vertically from 7-10 feet away, providing an unobstructed view of the floor with the door open (see far right examples below).
Living room
- Include key furniture pieces like sofas, chairs, and coffee tables.
- Highlight any unique architectural features like fireplaces or built-in shelving.
- Showcase the overall ambiance and aesthetics of the space.
- Capturing different angles will provide a comprehensive view of the room.
Bedroom
- Include the bed with clean and neatly arranged bedding. Avoid objects like flowers, or towels on beds. Hide wires or other unwanted items.
- Include storage options like closets or dressers.
- Capture room entrance with door open
Bathroom
- Showcase the main features such as the sink, toilet, and shower or bathtub (with curtain drawn).
- Must include one image of the bathroom entrance, and shower threshold (with floor visible).
- Highlight details like shower/ toilet grab bars, shower chairs, etc.
Kitchen
- Showcase countertops, appliances, and cabinetry.
- Include details like sink, stove, oven, and refrigerator.
- Highlight any unique or upgraded features such as a kitchen island or high-end finishes.
Backyard
- Showcase countertops, appliances, and cabinetry.
- Include details like sink, stove, oven, and refrigerator.
