Join me for two hours of cooking and conversation inspired by my committment to support local/ sustainable fish and seafood. So much of the beauty of the Pacific Northwest is tied to the ecology of our local waters and all of the creatures that inhabit and sustain them. It's about knowing how to make more conscious choices. I source almost all of the ingredients we use in the class from local farmers markets. We are incredibly blessed here by having access to a stunning variety of products produced by farmers from around the state. When all is said and done... it's all about what you begin with that determines the quality of what ends up on your plate. Begin with fresh quality ingredients and with simple techniques and minimal work you will have a truly memorable meal. For more than twenty years it has been my pleasure and delight to share my passion, purpose, and Kitchen with folks from around the world as well as locals. Welcome to the most fun and low-stress way to explore Pike Place Market! This tour is perfect for anyone interested in the market's diverse culinary offerings, as well as those who wish to learn about its rich culture and history. We keep it short, sweet and to-the-point. The tour lasts for 1 hour and 15 minutes and all food tastings are included in the price of admission. Your best experiences in Pike Place Market will be exploring on your own, and with us you'll get an idea of where to start and what to look out for. We allot extra time at the end of the tour so you can get personalized recommendations from your guide. This tour offers food, flavor and so much more! Tea & Tisane Tour and Tasting

You'll spend a delicious evening sampling a myriad of different teas in our unique steampunk tea shop. You'll sip, I'll brew and you'll learn about what makes different teas unique and how tea is grown and processed. We'll talk about the legends and lore surrounding this mysterious magical beverage. We'll sample and compare floral notes, mineral elements, and vegetal savory scents. We'll drink and compare black teas, explore Oolongs, savor subtle green teas, and dive into the wide world of therapeutic herbal Tisanes. We'll try on crazy hats and have a fabulous time. Come develop your palate and learn more about Teas & Tisanes. This experience is for tea lovers and novices alike and we'll guarantee you find something to fall in love with by the end. Other things to note We've got you well taken care of. Bathroom provided. Comfy environment and chairs included. Street parking is fairly easy, and there is a 90 minute free parking garage 2 blocks away.

Mad Scientist Cocktail and Mocktail Lab

lab·​o·​ra·​to·​ry | \ ˈla-b(ə-)rə-ˌtȯr-ē Definition, broadly : a place providing opportunity for experimentation, observation, or practice in a field of study. This is an ever-changing and high-concept cocktail and/or mocktail workshop (aka. laboratory) for those with 0 to 100 levels of experience. Unconventional, not a class; learn through experimentation! You get to take risks in this lab with hundreds of ingredients at your fingertips that you wouldn't normally take at home or in a cocktail class. Tools include smoking guns, test tubes, shaker sets, etc. This experience has no dress code. As soon as you enter, you'll be handed a lab coat -- perfect as a pre-funk to your night out on the town. Also, feel free to just lounge around [with your drink in hand] in one of the wing-backed faux-leather chairs and enjoy the ambiance of being perched in a high-end market, above many award-winning businesses. I will begin the lab by introducing you to all the tools and ingredients available. Multiple printed cocktail and mocktail recipes will offer a starting point, and as you take off on your own concocting direction, I will be present to offer guidance and answer questions. **I do gift certificates! Walk the Bean to Barventure Chocolate Trail

Is chocolate a food or a technology? Why does it hold such a special place in cultures around the world? Most importantly: How do YOU like your chocolate? On this 2 hr 15 min walking tour you'll need all your senses to help answer these questions, and there's no better place to explore chocolate than the city famous for beans that give you a buzz. Included in your ticket price are 12 individual tastings. We will visit 8 of Downtown Seattle's most beloved bakeries, restaurants, cafés, and chocolatiers. We will be walking in-between stops, however the distance and grade is manageable for all travelers. We also accommodate for all dietary restrictions. The tour starts at Dahlia Bakery where you delight in the days fresh bake. We continue through cafés where you experience the "World Tour of drinking chocolates," along with small treats and samples of chocolate. We spend a portion of the tour in an Italian grocer where you sample a selection of some of the best chocolate bars in the world (and from right here in Seattle). The tour ends at a chocolatier's shop known for its elite quality and unique incorporation of flavors, including fruit, honey and booze. You'll leave this tour filled to the brim with chocolatey goodness, but also with a deeper understanding of what chocolate is, what it means, and where it's taking us.

Urban Foraging on Capitol Hill

Learn how to identify edible native and invasive plants in the Pacific Northwest. Starting at Black Hole Sun in Volunteer park, I will guide you through one of the prettiest neighborhoods in the city. I'll teach you about best practices in foraging, acknowledge the indigenous stewards of the land, and help you identify some of the most common plants that you can harvest on your own. Along the way, we'll talk about the unusual geology that makes Seattle what it is, spy on street cats, and cover some of Seattle's strangest history. Every attendees leaves this trip with a handful (or more!) of something wonderful we've found along the way. Depending on the season, it could be fir tips, feral apples, herbs, flowers, or nuts. While I am not an herbalist, chef, or doctor, I'm happy to share ideas for preparing what you find, and traditional uses for herbs we come across.

Street Food Tour of South Lake Union

Get off the beaten path to experience the heart of Seattle’s tech center through the lens of a culinary walking tour. Over the last decade, this historical neighborhood has become home to the expansive Amazon and Google campuses—and, consequently, a vibrant street food scene that beckons both tech denizens and Seattleites who crave some of the city’s best noshes—from hand-rolled sourdough bagels at Rubinstein to Korean-Hawaiian fusion Marination to perfectly a balanced beverage from Rachel’s Ginger Beer to Middle Eastern mezze at Mamnoon Street. We stop at six different locations in South Lake Union for tastings and stories behind the distinctive local businesses—with the opportunity to explore the outside of the famous Amazon Spheres. Bring your appetites and walking shoes (no coding required!). Please message us in advance with any dietary restrictions as we can't accommodate if we learn day-of. This does include a fair amount of walking and requires a medium amount of physical fitness.
