In Muswell Hill - views to Alexandra Palace
The studio is on the ground floor of a house with patio doors in the room which lead to your own private space outside with a table and chairs. The whole studio space has an underfloor heating and modern décor.
The house is a typical residential home. It's situated in a quite residential leafy cul-de-sac in Muswell Hill, a suburban neighbourhood surrounded by forests and parks.
Spacious kitchen is equipped with gas cooker, oven, grill, fridge, microwave, kettle, and washing machine; WC is separate from the shower room. It is very light and airy.
The studio is only ten minutes' walk to Muswell Hill's bustling Broadway, with its wide variety of shops, restaurants and supermarkets (Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Marks & Spencer Food) The place is also conveniently located for anyone attending events at nearby Alexandra Palace or planning to spend time either on business or at leisure in north London. The Excel Language school only 15 mins of walking distance from the house. You will feel safe living in our area of London, which feels like a village although it is part of a great city.
Muswell Hill is located in North London, crossing the boroughs of Haringey and Barnet. It sits to the north of Highgate and the west of Wood Green, and covers the postcode N10. Muswell Hill and Highgate are two of the loveliest parts of North London, both easily accessible on the Northern line. The former hangout of both The Kinks and Madness, these areas are perfect if you want to get away from the hubbub and noise of central London and have a pleasant weekend either by yourself or with friends.
PLACES OF INTEREST
Commonly known as the 'People's Palace' or Ally Pally, Alexandra Palace looks out over north London from a height. Its altitude rewards casual walkers with spectacular views, and its commanding location and 190-odd acres of leafy parkland mean it's often mistaken for a magnificent palace of regal importance.
Ally Pally holds a special spot in the heart of Londoners, and a proud place in history as the birthplace of the world's first regular public television broadcast by the BBC in 1936. There's an indoor ice-skating rink, an expo hall and a vast gig space where you can catch big names and the odd clubbing event. There's a bonfire night every year, a boating lake, pitch and putt course, and newly refurbished Victorian theatre right in the heart of it.
For those Whovians out there, you may recognise Ally Pally as the setting of the David Tennant episode in which the Doctor climbs a TV Aerial to prevent the broadcast of the Queen’s coronation turning the population of North London into faceless zombies. Very historical.
ALEXANDRA PALACE PARK
Escape from the madness of city life in this beautiful park overlooking London, which was built in the 1800s as a leisure and entertainment destination for Victorian Londoners.
Spanning nearly 200 acres, there’s everything from a panoramic view of the city and a week Farmer’s market to a boating lake to enjoy, as well as the stunning Alexandra Palace itself.
Walk the railway line The old railway line walk (or parkland walk) runs between wooded canopies and open bridges, which offer stunning views of North London and the city beyond. Don’t worry, there are no rails or trains to ruin your pleasant saunter. The walk is sheltered enough from houses and busy roads to give the impression that you are walking in a rural countryside, rather than the urban jungle. The full walk is about 4.5 miles long and goes from Alexandra Palace all the way to Finsbury Park, but you can take the shorter route and pop off the track when you reach Highgate Wood.
Highgate Wood offers wilderness perfect for strolling, a children’s playground and an open field excellent for football or Frisbee. You can sit in the café overlooking the field and buy hot chocolate or ice cream (depending on the weather and your sense of adventure). The wood’s warden also offers night walks to look out for owls, bats and other nighttime creatures.

W MARTIN - A true Muswell Hill institution, W Martyn has been selling specialist tea, coffee and luxury hampers to the residents of N10 since 1897, making it possibly the oldest business in the area. The roastery on-site means you can smell the place from a mile away via the delicious coffee bean aromas, so you’re unlikely to need a map either - just follow your nose! Muswell is home to two wonderful independent bookshops, Muswell Hill Bookshop and the Children’s Bookshop, which are both worth a visit.
MH BOOKSHOP - It’s not a real London village without a good independent bookshop, so naturally Muswell Hill has a brilliant selection of reading materials at the Muswell Hill Bookshop on Fortis Green Road. If you can’t find what you're looking for in the shop the staff are usually happy to order something in for you, and they hold regular readings with well-known authors to help you find some inspiration too.

Children’s Bookshop - The Children’s Bookshop is an award-winning shop which has been in Muzz since 1974, it is very popular with authors and has hosted events featuring Julia Donaldson, Michael Morpurgo and Malorie Blackman. Address: 29 Fortis Green Rd, London Phone: 0208 444 5500
Secret vintage shop - Step away from the busy Broadway, down a quiet street between Princes Avenue and Queen’s Avenue to find Avenue Mews, home to the alternative, arty side of Muswell Hill. Here you’ll discover Can’t Buy Me Love, a vintage shop selling clothes, homeware, books, music records and unusual trinkets. This is the kind of curious shop where you can spend hours rustling through hangers and boxes of forgotten gems. Can’t Buy Me Love, 16 Ave Mews, London, UK
RESTAURANTS, PUBS, AND COFFEE HOUSES
My favourites are:
MIDORI - Leave your work-day stresses behind at this calm Japanese restaurant on Muswell Hill Broadway, where you’ll find an extensive menu filled with dishes including tempura, ramen noodle soups, sashimi platters and sushi hand rolls. The prices are very reasonable, and they also offer takeaway if you’d prefer your sushi selection with your feet up at home.
Address: 271 Muswell Hill Broadway, London N10 1DE, Phone:020 8883 7722
TOFF’S - Beloved by local residents, Toff’s is the best place to go in Muswell Hill when that occasional craving for a proper fish and chips hits. This classic fish bar has been around since the 1960s, and is still going strong due to their delicious crispy battered fish fillets and perfectly cooked chips. Eat inside the old-school dark wood restaurant, or get a meal to go and head to Alexandra Palace for dinner with a view.
