Fabulous, extremely light and spacious RUSKIN ROOM with small en suite in my apartment built in 1855. Rate includes breakfast. Near Glasgow University in the heart of the West End. City centre 10-15 minutes. I also have another HAMILTON ROOM listed.
I HAVE ANOTHER ROOM listed as "Super comfortable room (The Hamilton)" which may be available if this one is booked. You can find it on my profile page. https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/3122693 A SELF-SERVICE CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST is included in the room rate. The fridge in your room will be stocked with breakfast items for you to sample at your leisure. Breakfast includes: fruit, yogurt, a selection of cereals, bread, butter, marmalade, jam, tea, coffee, milk and orange juice. Please let me know if you have any dietary requirements and I will do my best to accommodate you. I provide semi skimmed milk and generally Irish soda bread, so please let me know if you prefer a different type. IN THIS VERY LIGHT AND SPACIOUS ROOM there is: a small en-suite shower room; a super king-sized bed; a cupboard to hang clothes in; a chest of drawers; a monitor to watch DVDs on; an armchair with foot stool; a dining table and chairs, a (silent) small fridge, a Nespresso coffee machine, kettle and tea making things. I provide all bedlinen, towels, bathrobes and a hair dryer. The room is lockable and you will be given your own key. There is also WiFi throughout the flat. I have a travel cot available. Please let me know if you would like this and I will reserve it for your room. WHO LIVES HERE? Myself and sometimes my partner. I have two rooms listed on Airbnb, so I may have guests in the other room during your stay. I also rent a room to an artist friend of mine, which she uses as a painting studio when she is not working as a tutor. PRIVACY & HOUSEKEEPING. I don't enter the guest room during your stay in order to give you privacy. If you are staying for a week or more, I will arrange for a convenient time to clean your room and change the bed linen. MY GUESTS ARE WELCOME TO MAKE USE OF the kitchen (including tea, coffee, sugar, milk, herbs, spices and oils). I keep a shelf free in one of the kitchen cupboards for your groceries and also a shelf in the kitchen fridge. The living room is for the hosts use only, but the guest rooms are spacious and the dining kitchen is large enough to hang out in. I aim to make you to feel at home here. I provide semi skimmed milk, so please let me know if you prefer a different type. I LIKE TO GREET GUESTS MYSELF. If I can't be at home when you would like to arrive, I use the key safe box next to the front door. I would arrange this in advance, email you the security code for the box and be able to give a rough time of when I will be back to meet you. I supply a Glasgow map, a print out of my local guidebook and any advice about the city requested. I always stay in the flat on your first night and occasionally spend a night away if I am visiting friends, etc. but would discuss this with you before making plans. Check-in is 14:00 hours onwards and check-out by 11:00. If you would like to arrive before this time, please get in touch and I will see if it is possible. In any case, you can drop luggage off and collect keys earlier if it suits you. After check out, I am happy for you to leave your luggage for collection later in the day if that helps.
THE LOCAL AREA has a good mix of small independent shops and quality high street names. It is a foodies' heaven with two specialist cheese shops, butchers, vegetable and whole-food shops, numerous delicatessens and stores such as Waitrose and Marks and Spencer. There are also wonderfully atmospheric second hand book shops, vintage and retro clothing stores, gift shops, jewellers and of course plenty of coffee shops, restaurants and bars. There are a wide range of places to eat from great value budget to widely acclaimed, well established restaurants. Five of Trip Advisor’s top ten restaurants in Glasgow are within 15 minutes walk. Nearby Ashton Lane is great for visiting during the day and evening for shopping, coffee, eating, drinking and catching a film at the Grosvenor Cinema. Music and plays can be found at Oran Mor, Kelvinbridge and Cottiers theatres and various pubs also hold more informal music sessions. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS INCLUDE: the Botanic gardens with its lovely tea room terrace; Kelvingrove Park with great views from the top of the hill and Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery; Glasgow University and both its Hunterian Museum and Hunterian Art Gallery with its must see reconstruction of the Architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh's house; the Kelvin Hall International Sports Arena (I've only ever played table tennis there!) and the River Kelvin Walkway which runs along the river and joins up with the Forth and Clyde Canal and forms part of the Cycle Path Network. A LITTLE FURTHER AFIELD, about 25 minutes walk away, will take you down to the River Clyde. Along the waterfront there is plenty to do from visiting museums (Riverside Museum of Transport, Tall Ship Museum, Science Centre) to attending shows and exhibitions (Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, Clyde Auditorium, IMAX cinema) a tour around the BBC Scotland building or even a trip on the Waverley, the last seagoing paddle steamer in the world. In the direction of town you can visit the National Trust Tenement House, Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Glasgow School of Art and Willow Tea Rooms, as well as a range of art galleries, cinemas, theatres, clubs, music venues and world class shopping! THERE ARE EXCELLENT TRANSPORT LINKS with bus stops right outside (8-15 mins to city centre), Kelvinbridge underground station 5 minutes walk (6 mins to centre), 20-25 minutes walk into the city centre and a short drive to join the M8 motorway at Junction 17. Also Glasgow airport is only 20 mins away by taxi or about 40 mins by public transport. PARKING There is metered parking on the surrounding streets. FREE ON-STREET PARKING is available 5 minutes walk away on Queen Margaret Drive. It is also free to park on Great Western Road on Sundays and from 6:30pm to 7:00am daily. The parking meters on Hamilton Park Avenue only operate from 8:00am to 10:00pm, so it is free outwith these hours. PARKING METERS CHARGE 20p for the first 30 minutes then 20p per 10 minutes after that for a maximum of 3 hours. Alternatively, you can purchase visitor's parking permits from me when you arrive at cost price. They are £2.00 each and are available for three different time periods: Morning 8am-2pm Afternoon 12 noon-6pm Evening 4pm-10am JUST TO LET YOU KNOW, there are a couple of negatives which also have plus points. As I live near a main road in a great area with bars and restaurants nearby it can be noisy with traffic and revellers at night. This tends to be more so from Friday - Monday, students Freshers week in early September and when students finish their exams at the end of the summer term. Also, the flat is located on the second floor with two flights of stairs and no lift, but the extra light does make the interior brighter. The en-suite shower room is lovely but very small. There is a step to get into the shower and the opening between the doors is not very wide. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
  • Lucy's place was absolutely beautiful! She thought of every little detail in the room to make it an exceptional stay. The room is huge and has beautiful high ceilings; the ensuite had nice extra touches like heated towel racks, nice shower soaps. The breakfast was an extra bonus with yummy bread, yogurts, juice, cereals, coffees & teas. The location was fabulous too, beautiful attractions very nearby. This room is highly recommended and we would definitely stay here again (and hope to on our next trip to Glasgow!). Thank you Lucy! You were the best hostess!

  • Lucy's communication and advice was great, it was really straightforward to find her place, and parking was (surprisingly) easy. Lucy was present when we arrived, and was warm and welcoming. Her recommendations on where to eat/drink were followed enthusiastically. She was helpful but unobtrusive. We wish we'd had more time to enjoy her genuinely luxurious place, hopefully another time!

  • Great flat with huge bedroom and perfect bathroom ! Nice location in the West End part, with easy access to bus and subway line. Perfect stay in Glasgow !

  • PERFECTION! From initial communication on booking, to checking out on our last day, Lucy has been the perfect host. The room was out of this world- seriously on par with 5* luxury hotels, but better due to all the fabulous recommendations and knowledge Lucy offered. Such thoughtful touches in the room. The location was just fabulous. When we come back to Glasgow, we would definitely hope to stay here again. Thank you so much for hosting us! X

  • That was the perfect airbnb experience! The room is absolutely gorgeous - huge, beautifully decorated, very comfortable and spotless clean. It even comes with a small fridge for your drinks and everything you need to make a coffee or tea. The little, brand new ensuite bathroom is lovely. The aparment is very nice and big and the location in the West End is perfect. The subway is close so getting around is extremly easy. Lucy is a wonderful host - warm, friendly and welcoming. The Glasgow map with her notes will stay with me for future trips. It really felt like moving in with very nice (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) and I was sorry to leave after only two days. I am very sure I will be back. I can absolutely recommend staying with Lucy - you will have a great time and perfect accomodation.

  • This room is fantastic and Lucy is an amazing host. The room is huge with a very nice ensuite bathroom. Everything you could possibly need is provided. The apartment is beautiful and in Glasgow's west end which is full of shops and restaurants and has easy transport into the city centre. Lucy was a great host who was super accommodating and offered lots of recommendations for things to see and do. I would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Glasgow!

    Amanda October 2015
  • I had a bit of a delay on my flight into Glasgow, but showed up and Lucy had waited up to welcome me in. She was incredibly kind and really goes above and beyond with this very beautiful suite. It's in a perfect location to shops and restaurants and she provides all the necessities. Towels, breakfast food/coffee/tea, mini fridge, etc. SUCH a lovely place to stay and so much better than a stuffy old hotel room. I would HIGHLY recommend this beautiful en suite room. I loved it so much I came back for another night! THANKS LUCY! xox

Luxurious en suite B&B (The Ruskin)
£ 52
Bright charming top floor corner flat with a comfortable double room a minutes walk from the station - 10 minutes from the city centre. Close to the lovely Queen's Park and very near to Hamden Park stadium but otherwise the area is quiet and pleasant.
The flat is very bright as it is on the TOP FLOOR of a corner tenement building in south side Glasgow. We have white walls with high ceilings and wooden floorboards. The room fits a double bed very comfortably and has draws and a rail to hang clothes. Guests will have complete access to all amenities in the kitchen. The bathroom and kitchen will be shared with us. You will have access to the home wifi. If guests would like to wash some clothes we would be happy to put on a wash for them although we do not have a tumble dryer. We will supply guests with fresh towels and clean bedsheets. They can also help themselves to shower gel and shampoo etc. Also feel free to make yourself tea and coffee! We like to meet all of our guests and get to know them as we love meeting new people. But if you'd prefer to keep to yourself it isn't a problem, we're not intrusive at all. Basically we want our guests to feel at home during their stay, and we are always approachable for anything they my need. We also both work from home and can occasionally be up late working on deadlines although will try our best not disturb you in the sleeping hours.
We are a minutes walk from the station and the city centre can be reached within 10 minutes or a 10 minute drive. Our neighbourhood is fairly residential with a lot of families. We are close to Hampden stadium which means the area can be quite lively during events but otherwise its a quiet area. We're a 10 minute walk to the lovely Queen's Park which gives you a view all over Glasgow when you reach the middle of it. There are lots of coffee shops and small restaurants in the south side. Mount Florida station is visible from our flat so if you are travelling to our apartment by public transport i would recommend the train as the easiest way to reach us. You can get the train from Glasgow Central and its a 10 minute journey. If you are arriving to Glasgow from Queens Street station or Buchanan Bus Station I would recommend the short walk to Central Station. You can also get a bus from central, the 4, 6 , or 6a and get off on battlefield road opposite a Sainsbury's Local a few stops after passing New Victoria Hospital. If you are coming from the Glasgow Airport there is a shuttle bus every 10 mins to the city centre. Get off at the second stop as that will be round the corner from Central Station. You can also get a TAXI as they are not too expensive, i would recommend Network Cabs - 0141 557 1110, or Hampden Cabs - 0141 649 5050 as they are the cheapest! Parking is free most of the time and you'll find a space within a few streets if not on our street. You will have to watch out for days when there is an event on at Hampden stadium though as in those days you do have to pay and will receive a fine if you don't have a pass. Although you will not have to move it far if you don't want to pay.
  • Stella and Jonathon were most welcoming. I arrived late which was no problem for them as I had driven up from Newcastle.I stayed one night on route to a conference, for which they were able to give me good advice as to how best to travel into the ecentre thenext morning. The flat is really pleasant contemporary place to stay, very comfortable bed.

    Andrew May 2016
  • Staying and Jonathan and Stella's place was a great experience! The flat is beautiful, clean and the bed comfy. They were really nice hosts and took their time to write down recommendations (Bakery 47 was amazing!) We'd loved to stay another night and would definitely come back again.

    Vilma August 2016
  • The flat is truly beautiful, the room was cosy, the bed comfy and the next train station is only a minute away, so you are at the central station of Glasgow in around 10 min, what is really perfect. Stella and Jonathan are friendly and relaxed persons. I didn't see them really often because they stayed only in their own room and didn't came out a lot of times. I had the feeling that they avoid the contact a little bit and that's why I didn't felt really welcome. The first night was unfortunately pretty noisy (tv, hair dryer, banging the doors - the walls in the house are thin and not soundproofed) what made it hard to find sleep until they went to bed at 2.30a.m., but the second night everything was perfect.

    Elisabeth May 2016
  • We've spent a very good time at the flat. Stella and Jonathan were very welcoming and helpful, thanks to them. The flat was as described in the advert, very light and clean. The area is very quite and two minutes walk from the train station.

    Fanny June 2016
  • Jonathan and Stella have only recently made the move from London to Glasgow and are settling in. We liked the way they have decorated the apartment. Don't forget to take a look at the painting in the bathroom! They both made us feel at home from the start and we had some good conversations with them. Unfortunately we had to move on as it was the last day of our holiday, otherwise we may have spent a few more hours chatting. The bed was comfy and the apartment is very bright.

    Jeroen & Hélène April 2016
  • The host canceled this reservation 60 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • Stella and Jonathan provide a gorgeous, well-situated flat and a clean, cosy room. They were so kind and accommodating; we thoroughly enjoyed our time with them.

    Mia May 2016
  • The flat was lovely and it took only 10 minutes to get there from the central railway station. Stella and Jonathan were very friendly and they helped in everything in connection with our trip. I can only recommend them as hosts, my staying was quite pleasant at their place.
