What you'll do

After a short introduction, we get on the water for a journey north, up Lake Windermere in Canadian Canoes - these can be stabilised if it would benefit the group or the weather is challenging. On the way you experience the profound shape of the Lake District Mountains rising up as we travel from the flatter coastlands towards the high hills. We make landfall at a piece of isolated land sticking out into the lake where we set up our day camp, learn to light fires from flint and cook our own three course lunch on the beach surrounded by trees and water.

Depending on conditions and needs we have a fantastic motor boat that can accompany us, this gives a great platform for equipment transport, can bring wheel chairs (wheel chairs just roll onto the front ramp), whizz someone back to a specialist toilet and the ability to take the group home if we're late leaving. We don't always bring it - we make a judgement depending on the needs of the group and conditions.

The actual event order is somewhat weather dependent and we will discuss alternative options for challenging weather nearer the time.
Other things to note:
We can accommodate a vast range of additional needs. We do however need some notice so we can bring the right equipment and plan accordingly please inform us of any additional needs before booking so we can discuss how best to make your experience great.

We are a husband, wife and dog team. We have taught in the outdoors for 25 years collectively, in Scotland, England, Middle east and Africa but mostly on the lovely shores, mountains and rock faces of the Lake District.

We have a wide range of skills: coaching canoeing, teaching bushcraft and helping those with additional needs enjoy the outdoors.

Where you'll be

Windermere - the longest lake in England and one with amazingly little public access making this experience quite unique. We have a special site about 3.5 miles away with permission to do bushcraft in the woodlands. It's both a beautiful journey and a camp spot.

The whole experience was excellent. Me and my family all had a great time and really enjoyed ourselves for the whole day. This was the first time we have been canoeing and the both the instructors were very friendly. Aslo they gave very clear instructions. The location is absolutely beautiful with a lot of photo ops; not just the lake but also the island for the open fire cooking. The food was delicious, not to mention preparing it was a lot of fun. Overall it is was a great day and I definetely recommend it. Also I have a 6 year old daughter who was also occupied the whole time so don't worry about your little ones.
