Ferrara. Known as the city of bicycles and excellent bread, but also as the UNESCO Worls Heritage Site and one of the most important cultural centres of Italy.
The godlen age of Ferrara was linked to one family: Estense family. They made of Ferrara a modern city and one of the most important cultural centers of medieval Italy. Everything you will see, is conected to them.
Your experience will start from from the Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ercole I d'Este street, known as the first modern street of Europe. Than we will proceed to one of the most famous landmarks of Ferrara, Castelo Estense. We will than continue to explore the main square with its surroundings, and walk through a part of the city known as "ghetto". From there we will walk towards Palazzo Schifanoia, an example of nobile country house from the times of Estense family. The palace has a lovely inner yard with amazing caffè. A perfect place to rest and refresh in the shade of trees.

I was attracted by archaeology and history since I was a little girl. My passion was that strong that I ended up studing Archaeology and History. Indiana Jones movies definitely helped me to made this choice!.
After my bachelor's degree, I pursued MA and at the end PhD. My innate nerdiness pushed me to explore every city I ever lived in and learn as much as possible about it, its history, culture, traditions...and Ferrara was not the exeption. For the last 10 years Ferrara was my home and I came to know it really well.

I wanted an introduction to Ferrara that makes the buildings come alive for me and Marija provided it. She is highly knowledgeable; it was a pleasure for me having her as a guide. Plus she gave me tips on local food + wine; what to try and where to go. Highly recommended!

This was a great and personal tour. Which gave us a basic background to the history and culture of Ferrara. Marija was a very friendly and interesting host with a great personality, who made us feel very welcome, and showed various areas of Ferrara She also happily answered all sorts of questions. We finished the tour in a pleasant bar with an aperitivo (ie with snacks). All in all, it was very good and I would recommend non-historians to take this tour. it was great for me, but perhaps a little bit short on detail for historians. Thank you.

It was a great and interesting tour! During our walk around beautiful and charming ancient city Marija told us a lot of interesting facts about its history and first of all Este family who ruled the city for a long period of time leading it to prosperity. Marija was very friendly and answered lots of questions we asked. At the end of the tour she took us to a lovely bar. Definitely recommend this experience!
