Hi! I’m Jon, the Co-Founder and Head Brewer & Distiller at the Foundry Brew Pub. We brew on site 16+ beers and ciders. We also distil 6 gins, a vodka, a moonshine, and all of these are made on site from English barley using a grain to glass method. In addition, we make a spiced rum and a white rum that are distilled from molasses & fermented on site. To top it off, we have also made a whisky which will be available in 2022! We are a rare little find indeed :)

Decided to do the brewery tour at the foundry while I was down in Canterbury this week. I've done a few brewery tours in the past but this one was particularly memorial, first of all when you find the foundry it's a great looking building which first peaks your interest and the inside is just as interesting... I got there about an hour before my tour so decided to sample the beer before hand... There was only 3 of use in the tour but that made the experience even better. The brew house was much smaller then those I've been in but that didn't take away from the informative and passionate talk from Jon. He took a lot of questions from just the three of us and during the talk we sampled a few of the drinks brewed in the foundry... All I can say is these where some of the best ales I've had! The South Island larger they brew is probably the best larger I've tasted... I'm not kidding all the drinks where top standard, they even have a distillery where they do vodka, Gin and spiced Rum... Figured as I like myself a spiced Rum from time to time I'd try a few of those too... Again without a doubt some of the best spiced rum I've ever tasted... I will definitely be back to the foundry with a few of my mates in the future. This is a must if you are in Canterbury!

Absolutely amazing. You will be astounded by what you learn. Loads of different alcohols too so if you're not into beer (like me) you can try something else (arrival drink of your choice). Found possibly the best "Jin" I've ever had. Love the heart and care behind all of Jons creations. Will def return and def recommend this tour if you're on the fence.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience - the explanation of the brewing and distilling that goes on at The Foundry was very interesting, and the tasting was great (and could be adapted for each person’s tastes, which was fab). I’m hoping to book more of the same to give as Christmas presents!
