What you'll do

Would you like to try Mexico City’s genuine street food made for locals and experience the most authentic flavours? The day begins getting into the subway, where I will explain you in detail how the public transportation works in the city. We will move to one of the most traditional and important markets not only in Mexico City but in the country; we will explore the market aisles and observe the different products that are sold inside as seasonal fruits and vegetables, traditional candies and a variety of chiles; while we explore the market, feel free to buy anything you want. On the outside of this market, we will eat one of the most emblematic and favourite taco according to the people who work on the area. Later we will take the subway again and move to the Zocalo square in the Historical Center. While we walk, we will be making stops at the best-qualified taquerias by the locals and you will learn more about the preparation of each of the dishes. Then, we will visit another market known for the exotic products, there we will taste a sample of insects that have been consumed in Mexico for thousand years. A few blocks away, we will visit a traditional pulquería and drink a glass of pulque, an emblematic drink of Mexico that is still unknown in many countries. We will continue walking through the streets of the Historical Center making stops at the street food stalls. Finally, we will eat churros on the original place that brought the churros to Mexico. At the end of the experience, we will go back to the meeting point. During the whole tour, we will make 11 stops, take into account that some are essential and unfortunately don't offer vegetarian options. Drinks are not included but the average cost of a drink is around 20 pesos or 1 dollar. You can contact me if your desired date is not available.

Learn more about John

John

I’m mexican and I have lived in the Historical Center of Mexico City for more than 25 years. One of my great passions is travelling and learning about different cultures from a local perspective, taste the food made for locals, get into public transportation or visit places hardly visited by ordinary tourists. I have a degree in planning and management of tourism projects, and recently, I received the tour guide certification. On my experience as a traveler, the opportunities to get to know authentic places are very limited. For that reason I decided to create this experience, to show the travelers like me, the real places where the locals eat in Mexico City, which street food stalls are our favourites and the variety of dishes that can be found in the streets.

What's included

Food
11 different street food tastings. Take into account that some stops are essential and unfortunately don't offer vegetarian…
Transport
Subway tickets.
