What you'll do

Everyone has an image of Amsterdam filled with red lights and green plants, but the Amsterdam that I've spent my best years at, has a brilliant collection of authentic world kitchens. We first meet at the central station, and then we head to the inconspicuous Italian sandwich shop for a small bite. All ingredients are either fresh made (hmmm... straight outta the oven Ciabatta bread) or brought in from Italy. And then we head south through the city. You'll cruise along one of the oldest canals in Amsterdam and into the Jordaan area for an old-school-but-new-style ice cream shop (It's a damn popular place, but we're going before the crowd shows up!) Our third destination is a family run Lebanese shop where we'll go for some homemade hummus. And... for a refresher, we head to my absolute favorite cocktail bar for some custom cocktail tasting. (Gimme your favorite color and taste, and my bartender friends will work you some magic!) For the finishing touch, I'm introducing to you, drum roll pls..., Dutchman's favorite junk food, Bitter Balls! ...I know it SOUNDS ridiculous, but it's mushed and minced beef with secret spice recipe deep fried into junk food glory...

So.. I was born in the land of amazing food (think chopsticks and savory), and I've never ever stopped looking for them wherever I moved. I've lived in Amsterdam for over two years, performing as a storyteller, a comedian, and working as a bike tour guide. I'm sick and tired of following those standard, humdrum routes that are filled with standard tourist traps, it's time to make my own! :D Amsterdam is not as Dutch as it is international, and there are hidden spots in town that hides de-li-cious and surprisingly affordable homemade food. Come eat like a local!
