I love wine tasting, and when I found the opportunity to do it in Bodrum I hopped on it! A small family winery which operates from the basement. I took the Dolmus bus there from city center very easy and only 3lira or 40 cents. I emailed the host to see if I was the only one who booked and I was which I was OK with it. When I arrived she had invited her friends and we had such a great time, meetings locals, having good wine and conversation. She said I was the first guest since March. We had such a delicious mezze cooked by her mom. A true local experience to end my trip in Turkey! And her friends were so kind enough to drop me off in the city center as well. And best believe I brought a bottle of wine home!

We had a lovely wine tasting and lunch with Duygu and her mom. They both speak English well and we had a great chat. We learned the interesting story of how this tiny family winery got started. We also had a quick tour of the wine making facilities and the herbal garden. The tasting took place on a lovely terrace in a real village house. It was easy to drive there, the road is good and the area is scenic. Definitely worth a visit!

Our visit to Duygu's family's vineyard was a special experience. Duygu and her mother made us so welcome! It is a boutique winery and all the processes are done at the house. Duygu explained in detail the wine making process and her passion for winemaking really comes through. Lunch is made by Dugyu and her mother and is delicious, authentic Turkish food. We sat on the balcony, drank wine and ate the food in the sunshine. There is no better way to spend a few hours! It is easy to get to the vinery using the Dolmus buses from Bodrum. Take the Kızılağaç dolmus and get off at “Şok Market” in Kızılağaç. The winery is less than 100 meters from the road. Duygu and her mother spoke excellent English so communication was easy. We would thoroughly recommend this experience for anyone wishing to spend some time having an authentic Turkish experience in a beautiful setting. And as a bonus the wine is excellent!
