What you'll do

We will start the tour on Lexington Green, one of the best known landmarks of that fateful day when the American Revolution began. We will recount stories about that day, some familiar and many not that well known, like the house where Paul Revere was told to be quite as he was spreading the alarm.

We will then head toward Concord, making several stops along the way at locations with many other surprising tales that may be contrary to popular accounts.

In Concord we will visit the Old North Bridge and learn about heroic and tragic events that took place at the bridge and surrounding area.

On the return leg we will visit several little known but very significant sites with their own stories to tell. We will complete the adventure where we started, on Lexington Green, to talk about the horrific British retreat to Boston.

I hope that guests will gain a new appreciation of that historic day, when a group of poorly trained and poorly equipped, but highly motivated farmers and tradespeople stood up to the greatest military force in the world.

I have lived in the Minuteman area of Massachusetts for over 50 years and I have become totally immersed in the history of the Battle of Lexington and Concord, a pivotal event in American History. My interest led to the production of three LPs of period music for the Bicentennial. To prepare these albums I scoured the local libraries and historical societies for information. My research has led to many fascinating discoveries about the events of the day. I would like to share these with you, including anecdotes, secrets, stories, legends and popular misconceptions that I uncovered. I think you will be surprised and entertained by these tales that don't often get told.

Where you'll be

We will be visiting a dozen sites of significance in Lexington, Lincoln and Concord, some well known (Lexington Green, Old North Bridge) but some often overlooked (Merriam's Corner, Bloody Angle, Fiske Hill, Hayward's Well, Minuteman Boulder, others) plus a site I will not name because it will give away it's surprising story. Time permitting, we will also stop at the historic Colonial Inn in Concord for some refreshments midway on the tour.

What a wonderful experience. Fred is a long time resident of the area and shared both historical facts along with his personal stories. The trip was great. Fred took us to the various sites in his car which was comfy and safe. He also provided a variety of snacks and water.

Fred was very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the tour. Recommend taking the time to tour and discover our nations early history. Good stuff and we’ll worth the time and money we spent.

I highly recommend this experience! Fred went above and beyond to make this experience convenient and memorable for my family of six. Fred has a passion for history and shared so many interesting historical stories. Combined with the stops at historical sights, Fred made it possible to clearly picture step-by-step the events in the mid 1770’s that led to our country’s independence.

Fred’s tour takes you on the route of British and colonial forces at the beginning of the war. He was a delightful narrator, knowing his material and covering many sites that may be overlooked without a guide.

This was a wonderful tour! I loved learning about all the little stories and even fighting tactics. Fred also went the extra mile to pick us up at Alewife and even took us on an extended tour in Lexington, which became some of my favorite parts of the tour. He also let us detour to the visitor centers to buy some souvenirs. The Subaru Outback we traveled in was clean and comfortable, and Fred also gave us a bunch of snacks and water. Thank you for an amazing tour!

What a wonderful way to get a history lesson about the beginnings of the Revolutionary War. Fred is super knowledgeable about the timeline, what happened when, who the important players were. A very in-depth, fantastic tour. Fred was very flexible our time frame and starting location. His car was very clean, and he provided water and snacks (something my hungry teenager appreciated). A very good storyteller and a wonderful experience. Thank you for making our trip to the area so memorable.
