What you'll do

We'll meet up on the Denbigh Moors by Lake Alwen or Lake Brenig which are beautiful unspoiled by mass tourism locations in North Wales. We'll set off, riding along fire track plus some single-track, through forests, across moorland and by lakes. Some parts of the route are very rarely used which makes it even more special. Although there are no technically challenging sections the conditions and downhill can add an element of risk so this is not a route for inexperienced riders. There are a couple of steep climbs which some may feel more comfortable pushing their bike up. We can go over bridges, dams and might cross a main road but apart from that it's nearly all traffic free. We rarely go below 1000 feet in altitude and at the highest we will be around 1500 feet above sea level, so the route may need to be changed slightly to suit weather conditions. We'll be riding at least 14 miles with ascent of over 1200 feet.

Guy

I live on a small holding, here in North Wales, where I run a busy holiday let, look after our animals, which takes most of my time, but cycling, bikes and the countryside have been my passion for over forty years, so I get out as much as possible riding the nearby trails, exploring and devising new routes to enjoy and share. I've lead many rides over the last decade - working for British Cycling, mountaineered all over Europe, run my own cycle business, I'm a qualified and very experienced mechanic who's cycled close to half a million miles on/off road and have the Remote Access FIrst Aid qualification.
