What you'll do

Be ready to learn something new and different about horses, that you would never learn anywhere else: The language of the horse! This language is mostly non-verbal and it is more subtile than you would expect! We will start the experience by a demonstration of the language ‘spoken’ by the horse and then show you how you can interact with the horse in its own language by using ones own body! I will point out the things to look for in the horse and how to respond in order for the horse to view you, not as their superior, but as their partner! This will create the willing, cooperating horse that we all crave. Horses will not only become our friends, but we will also get respected and thanked for it. In the proces we will discuss why this way of communicating is so much more efficient than regular training methods and you might even get some good ideas on how to communicate more efficient with other humans too! There will be some exercises where you can practise certain things with each other, so you’ll have the chance to feel what the horses feel. If you are an experienced horse person, I might even invite you into the ring with me and the horse and allow you to communicate with the horse yourself!
Other things to note
Please dress according to the weather, as the experience takes place in an outdoor area.
Unfortunately dogs or other pets are not allowed on our terrain.
Please note that our terrain might be difficult to reach for people with a disability such as a wheelchair.
One must be able to walk and stand.

I am the owner and founder of Natural Western Riding Center and Natural Horse Coaching. I have been passionate about horses all my life, rode horses from the age of 8, owned horses from the age of 14 and trained many horses myself, taught lessons at respectable riding schools before starting my own riding stable in 2002. I love helping people become better riders and/or trainers, by teaching this system I named: Natural Western Riding. It contains Natural Horse Communication, which consists mostly of Bodylanguage, Centered Riding®Inc, Natural Horsemanship methods like that of Chris Irwin and others, and Natural Horse Coaching, where people are coached by the horses!

Where you'll be

Natural Western Riding Center is situated south of the Amsterdamse Bos and is a bit hidden from the main road. As soon as you have closed the last gate behind you, you can already smell the horses, even before you see one! The stables are simple and a bit rugged, but every need of our horses is met. In our 'saloon' you can have coffe/tea and warm up if necessary. We will be outdoors most of the time, however, so dress accordingly!

It was a really nice experience where I feel I learned a lot. If you like horses I'd definitely recommend going here. But make sure the weather is good since you'll be spending quite a bit of time outside.

This was a wonderful experience. Linda is clearly quite knowledgeable about the art of nonverbal communication, and we were able to learn a lot. Our family of 3 were the only ones who signed up for the class, so essentially it was a private lesson. She started with a primer on how horses communicate while drinking a cup of coffee, and then went out to the padlock and were able to see if we could get a horse to walk around the ring without touching him. Linda was a gracious host.

It was an honour for us to be the first clients for this experience. Linda's knowledge and wisdom towards horses and interacting with horses were truly fascinating. The session was primarily about communicating with horses but the takeaways were so much more than that. We made realisations about our behaviours as humans; how communication is done in respectful and trustful manners. We highly recommend this experience filled with heartwarming life lessons accompanied by Linda and horses!
