What you'll do

The instructors at Subzero Nitrogen supply the glass, paints, and brushes, requiring visitors to bring only their creativity. Classes lead all-level painting classes that last up to 1 to 1.5 hours and focus on subjects ranging from the natural, such as birds and flowers, to still-life guitars, vases, and wine bottles. In some themed sessions, instructors also teach groups to paint abstract pieces or create their own variations on famous landscape paintings that. Some sessions follow a special date-night structure. At every session, the staff members encourage visitors to bring their own wine, beer, and snacks if desired. This version of the experience is only if you're interested in making your own alcohol infused ice-cream and unlimited flavors and mix-ins (theres another 2 flavor 2 "mix-in" experience without alcohol that can be purchased at $6 less and without constant instructor supervision). In the end we explain the concept of using liquid nitrogen and show you the basics of freezing ice cream this way. It'll then be your turn to make and freeze your own ice cream using a splash of liquid nitrogen. At the end of each paint session each person gets to custom-make their own one small ice-cream fresh from scratch using liquid nitrogen with unlimited flavors and 2 toppings. Book by calling 6 hours ahead of time at 678-670-6697 and save 15% off your booking.
Other things to note

Trained in the art of ice cream, my mother and I started this ice cream business to bring it to the next level while I was in nursing school. I have always enjoyed watching shark tank and knew this would be an amazing concept in Atlanta, GA. I knew there has to be a way to eat "healthy" ice-cream, be entertained and still be able to customize our deserts. I love ice-cream and science. I want to be able to share this amazing combination to inspire others to pursue their dreams while having a great time!

Where you'll be

We will conduct our workshop inside or the store. However, we could do a slightly different version of this run, depending on the weather and ability of the group. While we enjoy our drinks or alcohol (BYOB) while learning about science and ice-cream we could be outside or inside.

Unique experience for sure. The ice cream making was my favourite part. It would have been nice to have had an image to paint together, with instructions. It was kind of a free for all.

Great hosting and personality, I felt welcomed and comfortable despite being there with just one other person. Interesting to see the process to making the ice cream. A bit overpriced but otherwise I definitely enjoyed myself.

My friend and I had the same experience as previous reviewers, Takiyah and Emily. The description of the class is not accurate. There was no instructor or sufficient materials. The two other individuals in attendance received a 8x11 canvas and a book with stencils and were told to go to town. It is not an painting experience. You stencil a design on a canvas. I purposely reached out to the host several days in response to ensure we did not experience any of the issues discussed in the previous reviews. She never responded. I reached out again a couple hours the day of the event. She wanted us to come at 5:00 pm but it was too short notice so we told her we were coming at our scheduled time at 6:00pm. Arrived before time, and the host was no where in sight. As Emily advised the employees of Subzero were not aware of the AirBNB experience. From what I could tell, the host is the owner of the Subzero shop and uses her employees to run her AirBNB gig. The employees were super sweet but my heart went out to them because the host aka owner put them in an unpleasant situation. The host told us at 6:00 pm that someone name Yohanna was coming. No one named Yohanna ever introduced herself to us. The employees just kept apologizing and saying that host was on her way with more supplies. After 30 minutes of waiting and no contact from the host we left. At this point, I expect a full refund and have the screenshots of the non-responsiveness from the host after 6:30 pm to back up our experience. Not worth your time or money. Not a great representation of what Atlanta has to offer for AirBnB experiences.

The host didn’t show up nor tried to get in contact with me. For 45$ a person I expected more than making a cup of ice cream and painting with dollar store equipment

The experience was advertised as an all-level painting class where an instructor would meet you there and lead you in a painting class before you make your own ice cream. We booked the class for 6-8 pm, but got a message at 12pm saying that the instructor was running late and could we be there at 1:15 instead of 1. When we said we booked it for 6, Sania said that there had just been a confusion. When we got there at 6, there was no instructor, and Sania was not there because she was sick. None of the employees had any idea what to do and we were basically just left on our own. It was also not a painting class, or on glass, and was instead small canvasses and stencils. As in cheap, basic stencils from Walmart. We had about 5 options because most were dirty, and that was only after an employee found another 3 to bring out. They were old and bent, meaning it didn't paint clearly, and once we chose we were left alone to do our own painting. I wouldn't have minded this except it was not what was advertised by any means, and I think paying $40 to use a stencil on canvas and then make one ice cream is not worth the price. Maybe it would have been different if the instructor had been there, but there was no one for some reason, and so the painting part was not very exciting and was more frustrating than anything else. The ice cream part was really fun and yummy, but I kind of wish it had just been that. If you are looking for a simple, short painting experience with ice cream at the end, this would be a good choice, although you may want to bring your own stencil so you have options and it is a good stencil. But if you're looking for an actual painting class, I wouldn't book it. It was a fun date night with my husband, but next time we will just do a real painting class or find one where we can make our own ice cream!

Sania was a spectacular host. She was kind and thoughtful and really took the time to get to know me and my boyfriend and truly connect with us. The experience we had was amazing and one that we will not soon forget.
