What you'll do

- This is a pottery experience meant for those who have always been intrigued by the idea of pottery, but haven't had the chance to try it yet.

- You'll get a demo of various pottery techniques such as throwing (i.e. working on the wheel) and hand building techniques - slab-work, coiling & pinching. I'll also give you a glimpse of the various stages involved in turning a piece of clay into a finished product - a process that takes several weeks. Once we're done with the demo, you can choose whichever technique you'd like to practice during our session and I'll be guiding you throughout with the same.

- Towards the end of the session, you'll have an idea of the basics of pottery, some hands on experience which will help you decide if it is something you'd like to learn and practice on a regular basis or it could just be a fun afternoon of trying something new and working with your hands! :)

I'm a corporate professional turned artist, with my main areas of focus being photography and ceramics. I love the idea of 'creating' something and working with my hands, which led me to ceramics and its been one of the most therapeutic and satisfying things I've done so far. I have a small studio space in my home in Moira, from where I do my ceramics work. You can check out some of my work on my instagram profile: @lacunastudiogoa

I had a great experience with Tanushree - she was thoughtful and gave great instructions. She was encouraging and shared her journey with pottery in a great way. Highly recommend this if you feel like exploring art in Goa

Good experience. We tried a pottery course for the first time. The instructor is knowledgeable and practices pottery herself. We got plenty of guidance, helpful tips and supervision. We were shown several ways to do pottery including the wheel, and we could pick a couple and try our hand at it. We started on time but were encouraged to continue working and learning for extended time to finish our pieces which was great. She arranges for our pieces to be fired later and couriered to us for a small cost which we liked.

This was my first experience at pottery with my mum and Tanushree was patient and provided a lot of information to us as beginners. She gave us an overview of pottery using our hands and with the wheel. My mum and I tried our hand at it and it was a lot of fun. Tanushree even gave us some clay to practice further. The class is at her home and she was a wonderful host.

More tips

Please note that pottery is a long process and it takes several days and weeks to make a finished product. Hence this will be a practice workshop and what you'll make will not be a finished product. If you're based in Goa, I can arrange for a firing later for your pieces.
