Discover the world of Japanese Zen culture with our special lesson for English speakers. If you’re visiting Tokyo and want to add a relaxing experience to your trip, this class is the perfect option for you. In this lesson, you will learn the Zen Breathing technique from Yuki Shiina herself. You will start by working on your posture, and learning more about your natural standing and sitting positions. Yuki will then teach you the original breathing method written by Zen master Hakuin Ekaku in the 18th century, and help correct your breathing technique. After the class you will then sit down to enjoy a cup of authentic matcha tea, prepared by Yuki Shiina herself. You will be able to share your experiences in a calm atmosphere, and discuss your own thoughts on health and wellbeing. Yuki Shiina is an expert of breathing techniques, author, and the founder of Zen Kokyū. Having suffered from physical and mental disorders for over 15 years, Yuki turned to traditional breathing techniques to alleviate her pain. Specifically, she studied a breathing method created by a well-known monk from the Edo period, Hakuin, and credits him with saving her life. 「ZEN BREATHING studio」is near the Yoyogi station in Tokyo. We are waiting for you with the facilities to make you enjoy the experience. There is also Meiji Jingu shrine nearby, so it may be good to move there and experience.
