What you'll do

We'll meet at Alto da Boa Vista and entry the Tijuca National Park where we'll be welcomed with the stunning view of the Taunay Waterfall, the most famous cascade in the Park with its 35m free fall beauty.
From there we hike to the Visitors Center where we start our hiking experience that will last 3 hours on beautiful trails. We will discover historical places and walk inside the impressive vegetation of the Rain Forest that create the stunning scenery of the Park.
Our first stop is at Cachoeira das Almas (waterfall) where we can take a ‘shower” under its fall. Then we pass by the Floresta restaurant, a historical building, to hit the Caves Trail and discover the Belmiro, Archer and Bats Caves, being surprised by huge rocks and granit walls along this part of the Forest.
After visiting the caves we'll stop at the Cristalina and Baronesa waterfalls to fresh n’ up and hike back on a different path, allowing time to visit to the Gabriela fall where we take time to relax, have a snack, enjoy the place and feel the Rain Forest.
The trails are mostly easy, with some small bits of humid and slipery soil, but no big difficulties.
All the waterfalls have natural crystal water that rises from the water basins of the Park.
All the caves visited are safe and do not pose any danger to the guests.

Let me start by saying, I had an amazing time in this experience. From the moment we met, I began learning everything about Brazil's vast ecosystem to the history of how it all started. I enjoyed the hike, waterfalls and caves. I would never have been able to experience the forest in such a majestic way without the guidance of Alessandra and Renata. They are savvy professionals and the best tour guides. Thanks again Alessandra and Renata!!

We had an Amazing time with Alli visiting the Tijuca forest. From the beginning, she was extremely nice and friendly and had us set up for a great day. She provided some walking sticks for us, took Amazing pictures all along the hike, had wonderful stories about all the trees and buildings, made learning about the history fun, and never let us feel like we were not friends going for a hike!! We strongly recommend that if you want to visit the Tijuca forest for the beautiful waterfalls and caves, then you Must go with Alli!! Thanks for such a wonderful day, from Ohio!

Alli was a wonderful guide: warm and friendly and also incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about nature and the outdoors. She was full of information about the park, its flora and fauna and its history. It was a gentle walk (nothing too strenuous) but we covered a good amount of ground, taking in waterfalls, caves and different parts of the forest. It was lovely to escape the heat of the city centre to experience nature with a guide who truly understands and cares about it. Alli speaks perfect English (her husband is English) and Spanish (she lived in Barcelona for many years) but is a true Carioca and cares enormously about her city and its natural beauty. It’s amazing that in just a few minutes you can escape the mayhem of the city centre to immerse yourself in the lush tranquility of the rainforest. Without Alli I wouldn’t have found the waterfalls and caves myself - or gained the understanding of the forest that I did. Thank you Alli!

This experience with Alli was awesome! Communication with her was pleasant and easy from start to finish and she made sure we knew all the details of the experience prior to arrival. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about both her city and its natural wonders which shines through during the experience. She tailored the hike to our needs since we are traveling with young children so we could see many spectacular sites during the hike. She also took great photos of us all along the way which made for fabulous souvenirs. Alli is very personable and warm. Could not recommend this experience more highly!

This hike was soo beautiful. Even the drive to the park in Alessandra’s car was amazing because you see the nearby town and amazing views of the mountains. Alessandra is an amazing guide because she knows Tijuca park so well. She makes you feel very safe the whole time and takes you to every beautiful, hidden spot she knows. There are so many picture moments and we saw some super cool wildlife! Come energized!
