What you'll do
Forget about the cable car to get at the top of Sugar Loaf. This is the best way to experience this unique mountain! You'll remember forever!
We will meet at General Tiburcio Square, in Urca, near Praia Vermelha. From there we start the walk along the famous Cláudio Coutinho lane, which borders the entire south face of the Urca and Pão de Açúcar hills. It is about 1.25 km of asphalt until the trail begins. From there the walk is steeper, past rocky coastlines and belvederes that allow a stunning view of the Guanabara Bay.
In the middle of the way we come across a vertical rocky stretch (around 15m), where we will use climbing equipment to pass. After that, a walk through the vegetation leads us to the top of the mountain, from where we will rest enjoying a magnificent sunset as a reward!
The descent of Sugar Loaf is made by the cable car towards Morro da Urca. There, we will walk for about 20 minutes to return to the Cláudio Coutinho lane, where our tour ends.
Obs: This activity depends on good weather conditions. If there is a possibility of rain, the experience can have its schedule modified or, still, have your day rebooked without additional cost.
Obs2: In case of impossibility (medical or technical) on my part (Gabriel), another Professional Guide will be suggested, as well as the approval of the guest(s), maintaining the level of safety and quality of the expe
Other things to note
Important to carry water (1.5 L), light food (fruit, cereal bars, sandwiches), camera, repellent, sunscreen and good shoes.
No climbing experience is required!

That was just an amazing experience- you could not do this alone without Gabriel securing you with the rope. It was a very safe hike and it was not really difficult at all. Can fully recommend to do this and hike up the sugarloaf mountain 🏔🤘🏽☺️

If you are somewhat fit, this is THE way to be introduced to the Sugarloaf. Gabriel was excellent. Perfect knowledge of English, knowledgeable, caring, patient (with us, novice rock climbers) and thoroughly enjoyable company. We highly recommend him for a once in a lifetime experience.

Gabriel was a brilliant host and this experience will result in memories for a lifetime. Everyone can take a cablecar, but who can say you’ve climbed Sugarloaf Mountain? Gabriel is extremely professional and made sure everyone was comfortable. He motivated us but also ensured we got breaks. Hope to do another tour with him, highly recommended!
