What you'll do

Before departing to the location, we will have a brief lecture on the basics of night photography. Next, we will take to the stars. We'll arrive on location before sunset to study the landscape and plan compositions. Once it's night time, our cameras will gather light millions of lightyears away. After the class, we will have a masterclass in editing to bring our images to life!

I've spent the past 8 years capturing the night sky around the world. Northern Lights in Iceland, solar eclipses in Idaho and Argentina, and photos of almost every constellation and galaxy in the northern hemisphere. When I'm not traveling the world, I am exploring the dark skies on the edge of Los Angeles.

I have 5 years of teaching in the field, online, and in class on how to create my image, and I'm comfortable with any type of camera. I specialize in landscape astrophotography and timelapse, juxtaposing the cosmos and terrestrial landscapes. To me, photography is an extension of our sight that is used as a paintbrush to create art and science.

Justin is an amazing, traveled, practiced photographer who is passionate about astrophotography and wanted to tailor the experience to my level of knowledge throughout our time together. I've toted a camera around with me for years but wanted more insight on how to use the manual settings, which he PATIENTLY helped me work through before going outside and using the settings. I felt embarrassed that some functions of my camera I never knew really how to use them, however he was eager to help rather than make me feel ridiculous. Time and money well spent. Thank you, Justin!
