What you'll do

Walk the streets and explore the music of the 1960s and 70s

"A great experience that I warmly recommend!"

"I LOVED this tour."

"This was truly a blast."

We'll discover the heart of rock and roll in London—the places, clubs, and venues that were the setting for the music that defined a generation. In the 1960s and 70s, London was the world capital of music—The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, Jimi Hendrix, and many others lived and performed here. From the rooftop where the Beatles held their last concert, to the pub where the Stones were formed, to London's very own Tin Pan Alley, we'll walk through Soho to catch the places where the music was made and performed. We'll visit the nightclubs where the bands relaxed and get a firsthand experience of the streets that feature in the history of rock and roll. We'll see the sites where it all happened, hear the stories of the artists and their followers, and discover what's changed over the intervening years. On the journey, we'll also take in a bit of the history of Soho—its place as a home for refugees, for nightlife, for music, drugs, and crime. For anyone interested in the music of the 60s and 70s, this experience offers a fascinating glimpse into that world.

Where you'll be

We'll be in Soho, where the Beatles held their final live performance, Ziggy Stardust had a photoshoot, and where Clapton bought his first guitar. We'll see the college where the Sex Pistols had their first gig, where Jimi Hendrix played his first and last gigs, where the Rolling Stones formed and where they recorded their first album, and where Elton John worked as an office boy. We'll learn about Soho, where Londoners have their nights out.

Friendly and knowledgeable host - a good 2.5 hours' walk (weather permitting) around iconic landmarks of Rock and Roll's greatest artists (plus some less interesting/popular ones).

For anyone with an interest in the history of modern music, this tour guided by Don is essential. London is a constantly changing city and it was an outstanding experience to see where the Beatles played their last gig, where the Rolling Stones started plus so much more in between before these places no longer exist. Don is passionate about his city and the topic and we were grateful that he shared his detailed knowledge with us. Could you do this without a guide? I don’t think so as Don recreated the scenes and the atmosphere of some of the most important places in modern music history. Thanks for being so generous with your knowledge Don.

I LOVED this tour. Don was so knowledgeable! I am a Beatles fan, have been my whole life, and standing where they stood, sang and hung out in London was a real thrill. Plus, all the other musicians were there in the hippest area of London. I was pretty stoked to walk down Carnaby St too. It was an incredible day
