What you'll do

Baby goats are coming in late January! Guests arrive at the main barn (and be happily greeted by our giant white fluffy livestock dog Runa). After a brief orientation to note bathroom facilities (outhouse) and answer initial questions, the guests will be introduced to the herd in their pen or pasture. Carrie will give the breed history and current status of the breed, as well as talk about shows, production goats, and heritage preservation, the 3 branches of Fainting Goat breeding. Finally, Carrie will talk about Barakah Farm's unique approach to goat care, practiced on only a handful of Fainting Goat farms and described in her book The Energetic Goat. Once everyone is comfortable with each other, the guests get to pet and feed the goats. Baby goat cuddling is encouraged!
Guests are invited to ask questions at any time during the discussion.
Finally, when the treats run out, Carrie will answer any last questions at the goat pen. We hope you leave with a greater appreciation of rare breed preservation, the role of goats in a healthy farm, and the unique and loving personalities of these conscious beings.
You can see more about our goats on any popular social media or our website barakah.farm The farm is not ADA compliant. No dogs.

Carrie is full of knowledge about each of her animals. I will say that the animals are the stars. Carrie does a wonderful job at letting them shine and tells you tidbits about each animal. We took the fainting goats tour, but the ducks showed up and tried to distract us with their mischief. You can tell Carrie really loves each one and is kind to all animals.

A highly recommended experience! The host is extremely knowledgeable about fainting goats and is excited to share this knowledge with novices (like us). We had the opportunity to learn about the goats and then have hands on time with them, which was really fun. A great time!

It was great! Nice setting and Carrie’s love for the animals is reflected in her story telling. However, it can be better structured. At several points we were not sure what to do or expect next. Carrie was gracious and quick enough to respond to our questions.

Carrie is a great voice for goats, horses, donkeys, ducks and chickens! After an hour they are easy to see as individual personalities, many with endearing quirks. This was fun! A great introduction to heritage farming.

Great to visit Carrie and her animals, especially the goats. We are a family and her animals are very unique and very friendly. We spent time hearing about the history of how fainting goats came to be and fed them before walking with them through Carries property. We also met the ducks, dog and horses which all were very friendly. A great experience in the area!
