What you'll do

Do you want to experience Amsterdam from a queer perspective? And learn all about the pink side of history? Come and join my LGBTour: a queer walk through the historic heart of my beloved city.
Together we will discover the hidden queer gems of the oldest part of town, where you will find out:
- if there truly are unicorns at the Royal Palace;
- what happened when two queer activists protested at our National Monument;
- and underneath which rainbow flag I fell in love with a girl and never looked back/I had my first queer kiss.
I’m a professional storyteller. Next to sharing queer historic stories, I love sharing my personal stories. We will go on a trip down memory lane with some queer scenes from my personal life about coming out, falling in love, and having a broken heart in the city of Amsterdam.

During our pink stroll through the oldest part of town, we will also talk about queer history & queer politics, pride & protest, and share coming out & coming in experiences.
And, of course, as your LGBTour guide, I can tell you all about Amsterdam's queer nightlife: from the old and dirty to the fresh and glittery.
You can ask me anything and know that you are most welcome; the rainbow is for everyone!

Duration: about 2 hours.

'Underneath the rainbow flag, I fell in love with a girl for the very first time, and I never looked back. Now I live with my cat, Samantha, enjoying this wonderful queer city. I have always loved being actively involved in our community for example by organizing the first National University boat during our Pride Canal Parade or by winning the LGBT Innovation Awards on a project on teaching kids about diversity & inclusion using the art of storytelling.'

Sanne Pols is a public speaker, writer, and trainer with which she tries to make schools and workspaces more inclusive. Personal storytelling flows through her veins and reflects in her work as an expert in diversity and inclusion. Most of all, she enjoys her self-developed LGBTour: 'I know my pink city by heart and would love to show you around through the queer heart of Amsterdam!'

Where you'll be

We will plunge ourselves into the queer and historic heart of Amsterdam also known as the Red Light District. And will have some special stops at very old authentic queer places; including the oldest one, which has a mind-blowing museum-like interior.

Starting point: Dam Square, at the National white Monument. That's close to the shopping mall called 'Bijenkorf' at Dam Square.
Finish point: Zeedijk, near Central Station.

Fantastisch!

Sanne was amazing, even with the worst possible weather. We earned so much and really felt like we had a better understanding of the LGBT community in Amsterdam. Definitely worth it!
