What you'll do

We will first meet at the trailhead. We'll begin the hike and begin to navigate through the Hawaiian rainforest. Along the hike you'll see a bamboo forest, a Hawaiian stream we'll cross multiple times, and many examples of native Hawaiian plant-life. When we get to the waterfall we'll take a break and you'll have time to take pictures, swim in the waterfall pool, and approach the waterfall if you wish. When you're ready, I'll take pictures of you with my professional DSLR camera (Nikon D850). I'll take general pictures of you in front of the waterfall at a distance and up close. I'll take pictures of you from various angles and positions I'm familiar with. When you're ready, we'll leave the waterfall and head back towards the parking area. I'll then go home and edit the images to bring out the colors and enhance the lighting. Editing can take 3-5 days though is sometimes done sooner. Once the photos are done, I'll upload them to the internet and send you a private link where you can download them. *Note that the hike is moderately difficult for someone familiar with hiking but can be a hard hike for someone new to hiking. **The pool under the waterfall is smaller and only about chest deep.
Other things to note
There is a disease called leptospirosis that exists in the water. It seems very rare and is usually treatable with antibiotics. I would research more about it if you are concerned. Large rocks have been known to fall down around waterfalls. It's also rare but it may be a concern for some people.

I've mostly grew up in Hawaii while my Dad was in the Navy stationed at Pearl Harbor. In total I've probably spent about 15 years on the island. I graduated college at Colorado State University with degrees in math and finance. However I did not want to work in the office and I'm trying to find a way to do that ;) I grew up hiking trails and exploring many different parts of Oahu. I bought a nice camera and started landscape photography in about 2012. This led me to explore Oahu even more heavily and I feel like I have an expert knowledge of the island. I recently started selling my landscape photos at farmer's markets and online. This quickly led me to model photography which I am now focusing heavily on. So, I think I'm in a unique position to both show you cool hiking trails and to take good photos of you on these trails ;)

Where you'll be

The waterfall is called Lulumahu Falls and is on the island of Oahu. You can drive to the start of the trail and have to park on the side of the road. Do not leave valuables in the car because sometimes they're broken into. The hike is approximately 1 hr 30 minutes roundtrip (45 minutes to the waterfall). The trail to the waterfall will take you through the Hawaiian rainforest. There also is a small bamboo forest you will see.

Colin was a great experience host. Very forward with immediate concerns about the hiking environment. The hike is not necessarily easy and you should be very aware of your comfort level with “wet” hikes. Quick return on photos and the final product was great!

This was definitely not a hike I would have taken by myself. Colin knew the path very well, and was able to make recommendations throughout the journey about how best to navigate the trail and the terrain. He also knew the best locations for maximizing the beauty of the scenery/background in the photos. He was timely, knowledgeable, friendly and funny. It was one of my highlights during my Hawaii trip and an overall fabulous experience.

Colin was very knowledgeable, had great communication skills, and was more than happy to get to know the group. The pictures came out great and he got them to us much quicker than expected.
