The experience with Madame Renaissance is truly unique and special!
Don’t be overwhelmed as she is trying to teach you a lot of techniques. It is very in-depths art experience for you and it can be personal.
You don’t need to bring anything but an open mind.
Go try it out for this world class experience.

I had an amazing experience with Toby. She is a wealth of knowledge and experience with art, and she gave me information that will be very useful for the future.
Both of us being long-time San Franciscans, it was not surprising that we found a lot of common ground and common people within the local arts scene.
I am grateful to have had this experience, and I highly recommend it to others.

It was a wonderful experience spending time with Toby and Joe at their home and studios. Toby created an safe and inspiring environment for us to explore the universe of art; the roles and responsibilities of being an artist; the various crafts and techniques; and so much more. It was the creative restart that I was looking for and I loved every minute of this experience!

I was in need of creative inspiration and this weekend workshop with Toby in her studio was more than I could have wished for. Toby is an incredibly generous host sharing her experience as an artist; how she started and what it means to live the life of an artist. She had prepared an incredible amount of content (handouts, materials, key points) which she shared throughout the two days. She also provided very personal attention throughout the 2 days filled with instruction, hands-on creation of art and lunch/coffee breaks. Joe, her husband is an artist as well and I loved talking to him as well. Toby has great intuition on what I needed as an artist to take it to the next level. The experience was not only fun, but also had depth. It will impact my evolution as an artist. She is the "art whisperer"! I feel so lucky to have met her. I sent Toby some of my reflections on the evening after day 1 of the workshop. Thought I would share them here. Yours may be different as each of us seeks different things. If you are looking to become more creative, or take your art career to the next level, I would recommend this experience. Note to Toby after Day 1 on Key Learnings: 1. Surround yourself with art and inspiration: I liked how everywhere you looked there was artwork or art materials. The studio was also inspiring with a lot of space and natural light. 2. Experiment: With mixed media what I found most interesting in your demonstrations is how you can cross over the results of one medium with another and the combinations lead to even more creative outcomes. Especially the Xerox and projection technique. Being mainly a painter, this can lead to amazing new possibilities. 3. You own your work and therefore can do whatever you want with it. While we talked a lot about copyright, I think what I learned is even beyond the legal aspects. Its about an attitude towards your artwork that you own it and can mold it to whatever you want it to be. 4. Draw inspiration from other artists. I really liked the list you provided and will continue to study them. I also realize in my studio I need works from different artists that inspire me so I can play with it. 5. Loosen up. I liked the exercises we did today. Even though the results are not exactly what I would want perfectly, it helped to stretch me in different ways. 6. How to manage prints and originals. As I start thinking of selling my pieces of work, it was interesting to hear how you price pieces of art work. 7. Squeeze it in. I realize I need to have a certain amount of art materials lying around so that I can create whenever the mood strikes me. 8. Oils are toxic. I do need to think through this being in my own home how...
