What you'll do

You will walk tiny alleys where people live, and narrow streets with every kind of shop and food stall. You will not see cars, but make sure to step aside for donkeys and hand carts! You will meet artisans, shop keepers, and food sellers, as we visit a bakery, weaver, hammam, apothecary, tannery, traditional clothing shop, and much more. I will share some of our traditions, history, and what makes Fés special as we go, and I hope you will ask questions! Take your time as you stop, admire, taste, and take pictures. You will see our thousand year history all around you as we find museums, schools, monuments, and the beautiful facades of mosques and shrines. We will stop for a delicious lunch at a small restaurant, the kind of place where there is no menu posted, and you may notice you are the only tourist. This will be an experience to remember.

Where you'll be

This walking tour will take place in Fés El Bali, the oldest walled part of the city of Fés. We will spend time in the Souk (marketplace), and see many landmarks of the Medina, including the University of Al-Qarawiyyin, the Al-Attarine Madrasa, the Chouara Tannery, and the Zaouia of Moulay Idriss. Best of all you will meet the people of Fés El Bali and see the many activities taking place there.

It was a magical moment with Hanan, we didn’t feel her like a guide but as a member of family, thanks to the people that’s she show to us we have been at the real inside of the Fes life. It was an experience rich in history and culture. It was a unique and magical moment! Hanan was kind and patient with us. She made us love fes even more! We will come back and we will not hesitate to see her again. Thank you for everything Hanan you are a sunshine 🌞

This tour is a great way to see the medina, especially for a young woman travelling alone. The trip is focused on walking all the twisted streets, meeting local artisans, and getting to see the tannery. It seemed like Hanane knew everyone, and we got to stop and chat with people working in a bakery, wavers, metal workers, herbal specialists... you name it. This isn't so much of a "main sights of fes" trip, but you really get the medina exploration. She was also very helpful in getting me in a cab back to my riad afterwards. I highly recommend this over wandering around on your own.

We had a great time with Hanane. Not only did she share the city’s most interesting historical locations, but she showed us where to get the best kefta, tea, and coffee, and taught us about Moroccan wedding traditions. She was friendly and knowledgeable, and made lots of suggestions as to where we could visit next. Would definitely recommend to a friend visiting Fes.

Hanna is the great guide for the single traveller as well. I joined her tour alone, and despite my worries, she was really kind and calm, and tried her best to make me comfortable. She introduced me amazing hidden places in crazy massy medina and everything was very new for me! Do not hesitate to choose her tour.
