What you'll do

We will meet at Roundhay Park and begin our tour with a short talk from me about what we can expect to be seeing that evening in the sky. We will then go for a walk and I will teach you how to star-hop from one constellation to another, how to identify craters on the moon and we will try and spot some planets.

I will teach you the difference between a star and a planet, how the moon orbits the Earth and answer any space questions you have.

Of course, the event is completely weather-dependent and if we have bad weather, we might have to go to a local pub. I will talk you through what we would have seen, answer any questions you have and show you how to use stargazing apps.

Where you'll be

We will be walking around Roundhay Park, one of the biggest parks in Europe and a great place for urban stargazing. Our route will take us past the mansion and near the upper lake where we will get great views of the night sky, but we will stay close to a nearby pub in case we have to head inside because of bad weather!
