What you'll do

Join me at the farm, just outside of Melbourne, where you'll learn all about our sheep dogs! You'll meet our team of dogs and learn how our trainers and handlers work with them to safely move the sheep and bring them into the yards from the paddocks. We'll see the dogs in action as they go about their jobs and work with the sheep. Experience a bit of farm life where along with our working dogs and sheep, you might get to meet our resident ducks and goats! You will have some fantastic photo opportunities along the way too. At the end of the experience we'll share a cold beverage while enjoying the country scenery.
Other things to note
Please be aware this is a farm environment with farm noises, farm smells and farm terrain!

I have been working nearly exclusively with our iconic Australian working breed dogs since 1993, and have been doing so on a full time basis since 2011. During this time, my rescue dogs have competed in and won events across many categories within dog sports across the country. They have also appeared on the silver screen, TV and in numerous publications, both in print and online.

We booked with Carey for a unique Aussie experience for family visiting from Spain. Carey and Di were incredibly accomodating - they scheduled a session to work in with my family's travel dates, and made us feel incredibly welcome as soon as we arrived. The experience itself was fantastic - immersive, enjoyable and interesting. We were a group of six with three kids under 5 in tow who loved every minute and really got involved. Carey and Di do a wonderful job through dedicating their lives to rescuing working dogs and you could tell all of the various animals on the property were well loved and cared for. At the end of the experience we had a delicious BBQ from the local butchers and some drinks, a cuddle with two adorable rescue puppies as well as a demonstration of Nimble the dog's amazing tricks. It was a lovely way to round out the afternoon and we really appreciated the thought and effort they put into the experience. Couldn't recommend more highly!

Absolutely amazing experience - one of the highlights of our whole trip! Di and Carey were so friendly and we loved chatting with them and learning about them and their work and spending time with them. Working with the dogs was awesome; it was more hands-on than I expected and I loved getting to be the handler and having my own dog to work with for the experience. I learned so much and I loved seeing the dogs in action. The dogs were great, the hosts were great, the experience was great, the beer and chats were great. We can't wait to visit AWDRI again!

So awesome to see what these dogs are capable of work wise & to see them having fun swimming in the dam too. Great hosts, Carey & Di shared lots of knowledge with us. We got puppy cuddles also, which was a bonus, as they happened to have a litter of rescued pups at the farm.

We had the best time with Carey, Di and the dogs! It was interesting to learn the techniques for getting the dogs to round up the sheep - and incredible to see how smart they are (and so cute!). Carey and Di were so friendly and answered all our questions. We really enjoyed having a drink with them at the end of the day and getting to play with the gorgeous foster puppies they had at the time. I would recommend this experience to anyone!

What a wonderful experience! From the warm welcome, calm and patient tuition, fun, laughs and learning. And to cap it off over a drink in the sunset getting to know our hosts. Carey and Di, thank you for making us feel so comfortable and welcome and sharing your knowledge of farm life, rescue dogs - their diet and training, not forgetting the sheep and goats. Genuinely one of the best afternoons I've had in ages!
