What you'll do

We will depart the busy capital from the "Angel de Independencia" early morning before traffic has awoken toward Tolantongo. We will have private, comfortable transportation for our group. Along the way, we will stop along the way for breakfast (price included) in Actopan, one of the major cities we will be passing along the way to our destination. Upon arriving, we will do the active part of our journey first. Cave exploration! Enjoy the warm thermal waters in the caves as you explore. Anticipate excitement and relaxation the entire time. This is merely the beginning of a day of deserved relaxation. We will aim for lunch around noon (on your own), from one of their local restaurants. After lunch, you will have a chance to zipline (price not included) or enjoy relax alongside the river. The river is well maintained and controlled to be clean, warm from the same hot springs and caves we explored, and a total relaxing experience. After the river, we will move to the other part of the park to enjoy the Pocitos; warm, natural and man-made thermal pools that provide amazing views and soothe the body. There will be some other opportunities to explore more caves, breathtaking views, and cross a hanging pedestrian bridge. Finally, before sunset, we'll go back to the city with new experiences and a phone full of new memories to share with your envious friends/family.

Learn more about Arturo

Arturo

I left public education in the US for an indeterminate period of time to experience living in the chaos that is Mexico City. I was born and raised in Dallas (TX), and spent my summers in Mexico growing up. I hold a BA in Hispanic Studies from the Univ. Texas in Austin and was a bilingual teacher in Dallas for seven years. I am a native English and fluent Spanish speaker. I have spent my summers exploring Mexico- north, central, and south. Mexico City is the central point to beginning your journey in any direction. I am able to get around the city and the countryside without issue. When designing trips, I take into consideration and anticipate what my “neediest” friends would need for a trip that is relaxing, entertaining, and most convenient. I am more than happy to share a piece of my best experiences and memories with you.

Where you'll be

We will be traveling to the hidden community of Tolantongo, meaning "place of warmth". The small community of locals have joined together to provide a relaxing place to escape daily life and experience their hot waters. It is a beautiful place that feels like paradise. It is located north of CDMX in the state of Hidalgo. Here we will experience a beautiful cave with thermal springs, a warm soothing river, and the relaxing pools of hot springs.
