What you'll do

We are Panagiota and Kleopatra two friends from middle school that have studied together at the School of Fine Arts. Being an artist in Athens is an experience that provokes mixed feelings. It is difficult but also amazing being alert in a city that never sleeps and getting inspired by the unstable political and economical situation.
We would like to share with you everything we know about the Athenian contemporary art scene by going to some of the best art galleries combined with some fun and tsipouro afterwards!
The starting point of our art tour is Thissio metro station were we will have a small walk at one of the most beautiful areas of Athens and then we will start to look for the galleries of our preference (there are two different routes depending on the shows that are on). There we will guide you through each exhibition and give you some information on every artist.
At the end of the tour we will go to some beautiful "tavern" where we can drink tsipouro, taste some local food (meze), chat about our experience and express our thoughts on contemporary art scene at a beautiful tsipouradiko.
(We also speak really good Italian.)

Panagiota is a young Athenian artist. She mainly uses printmaking in her artistic practice but also she loves experimenting with different media. She has studied Fine Arts and she has lived in Venice and Lisbon practicing her art. She loves traveling around and she is getting inspired from other people’s stories and from new places.

Kleopatra is a visual artist and student in the masters degree in Fine Arts. She uses various techniques in her artistic practice. She is currently working at the Benaki museum as a weaving teacher. She has lived in Krakow and Paris and worked in famous art centers. Her grandmother was a sculptor and her mother is a guide. She is here to combine these two elements. Having traveled all around the world now it’s time for her to show you her city, the fascinating Athens.

We had the opportunity to discover that greek art is not only antiquity and classical monuments. Panagiota and Kleopatra were very knowledgeable and very friendly. We learned so many things about contemporary greek artists and had great fan. Kleopatra's workshop is full of beautiful works of art in very reasonable prices. The "tsipouro" in the end was an excellent finishing of a fantastic experience. Highly recommended.

What an exciting and insightful excursion into the modern greek art scene. The very likeable artists Panagiota and Cleopatra show the diversity and vastness of the current art scene outside of the dominant Greek classical art world. For me, the excursion was a colorful addition to my visit to Athens. I understood a lot, had a lot of fun, saw many beautiful and interesting pictures and even bought the most beautiful one.
