What you'll do

In a cozy and traditional place, we will taste 7 types of moles and seven different Mezcales. Get a framework for how to think about mezcal, in a way that regular tastings and visits to local mezcal bars do not offer. Try seven handcrafted moles of Oaxaca, all in a single experience. The tasting contains all the educational values of a Sommelier wine tasting, as well as the space to ask all you want. The Mezcales that you will try are carefully selected as they differentiate the characteristics of the different Agaves: Espadin, Cuishe, Madre Cuishe, Tobala, Tepeztate, Arroqueño, and a blend. It is an educational and pleasant-tasting paired with a different mole for each mezcal.
Ask and discuss your impressions, share and meet people that want to enjoy the Mezcal experience at a different level.

Certified Sommelier Daniel Rodriguez Gonzalez is a
filmmaker, seasoned traveller, historian, and enthusiast of life. His passion for wine began as a child while listening to his grandfather tell stories of making wine in Spain; from his first sip at age 12, he knew wine had many stories to tell. After studying film at in Mexico City, he began to travel the world, documenting stories as diverse as shamanic practices in México or walking 500 miles crossing Spain doing the Way of Saint James.
Working at a wine bar in Madrid, and later as Tasting Room Manager at Texas’ Spicewood Vineyards, he discovered he liked teaching others about wine as much as he enjoyed drinking it. Nothing makes him happier today than finding that Mezcal is as diverse and exciting as the world of wine.

Our group of six from Cincinnati and Chicago had a wonderful experience with Daniel’s Mezcal y Mole tasting in San Felipe. It was comfortable, well-planned, prepared, and executed, and a perfect way to introduce our group to the Oaxacan food scene. Daniel has a great sense of humor, charming stories, and our group felt like we all left with lots of information to share!

Amazing experience! Cannot recommend this enough. Being a Sommelier myself, I had very high expectations for this and it exceeded them in every way. Daniel is incredibly knowledgeable and charismatic and puts on a great event. The Mezcal and Moles were terrific and the space is beautiful. Don't miss out on this one.

This was my second time attending a Mole and Mezcal tasting with Daniel. I loved it so much the first time around that I booked another event when my boyfriend was able to join me on my most recent visit to Oaxaca. Did not disappoint! Daniel is friendly, easygoing and knowledgeable. His passion for Mezcal is infectious. A must-do for people interested in dipping their toe in some of the best of what Oaxaca has to offer. Highly recommend!

Great experience, educational, and super fun! It's structured similarly to a wine and cheese tasting. We knew nothing about Mole or Mezcal prior to coming to Oaxaca and so glad we booked this experience! Daniel teaches you about the different agave plants, types, and regions so you know what to order when you go to a Mezcaleria! He also introduces you to the 7 main types of Oaxacan Moles and how they par with different Mezcals. We now know which moles and Mezcals we like so we know how to order while dining in Oaxaca!!! You can guy all the moles and mezcals you taste and his house is beautiful and we met so many fun friends! Highly recommend!
