Thirty years of professional sailing experience meets 30 years of crabbing, foraging and cooking experience. Two lifelong passions for the water, crabbing, fishing, entertaining and vintage wooden boats have come together to create this unique Airbnb Experience.

I've been crabbing the waters of Indian Arm, in North Vancouver for the last three decades. As a professional food blogger and chef, I will teach you how to fish for, and prepare our sweet Westcoast Dungeness Crab, on location at our stunning oceanfront, off-grid home, Allswell Cottage (also an Airbnb Stay).

We will crab together in the sheltered ocean waters of Say Nuth Khaw Yum Provincial Park [aka Indian Arm Park], located in North Vancouver, BC.

This massive fjord extends north from Burrard Inlet. The spectacular landscape features rugged, forested mountains, several creeks and towering waterfalls. We will cook our catch at the outdoor Summer Kitchen of Allswell Cottage, our Airbnb off-grid oceanfront home located in Coldwell Beach, Indian Arm.

This is a lot of fun, even on a rainy day! The location and crab is fantastic, but Kate and her Family’s genuine friendliness is really what makes it special. We had a great time, even the baby!

A truly amazing and incredibly entertaining experience! I and my 12 weeks pregnant wife went out on a brisk February afternoon, and were treated to the guidance, facts, and jokes of John and Furio. Furio was an incredibly intelligent 13 year old, who knew an amazing amount about the area, crabbing, and nature in general. Both were just as friendly and warm as could be. I would honestly recommend this trip to everyone. The boat is nice, we caught plenty of crabs, they teach you how to dispatch and clean them if you want to, but no pressure! Then you sail off to their private cabin to boil them up with some lovely drawn butter. Truly as fresh as you can get and wonderful views throughout! Thank you to John and Furio for the wonderful experience!

I was hesitant to book as there were only 2 other reviews but I am so happy we did- it ended up being the highlight of our trip. My mom and I went and it created memories of a lifetime. Kate and John are perfect hosts their experience and history of the area was incredibly interesting. We ended up with 6 keepers that were deliciously prepared on the deck of their beautiful cottage. Next time we will book a night at their cottage as well! Thank you Kate and John for such a memorable experience.

Kate and John are some of the nicest most interesting people I have ever met. The boat is fun, they both are professional captains, the food and tea they serve aboard is excellent, and the crab is plentiful. The whole experience was much more like hanging out with a cool aunt and uncle than booking a fishing charter. We caught some crabs then went to their lovely cabin to have a crab steam together. We all ate together around a table sharing stories. It was just an incredible experience. I could not recommend it enough. Probably my favorite thing I did in Vancouver. 10/10. Loved it.

Thanks Kate & John for their great hospitality, we have a very good time and a great experience in not only catching the crab but also hearing all the stories related to the crab, their house, everything from them... My son and I start the day with a cup of coffee and a very yummy snack homemade by Kate, it is a must-try, very very yum. And, we learn and drop the crab trap, taught by John. And, can't wait to pull the crab up. It is great that they have dropped some traps the night before, and we can pull them up with so many crabs. The most highlight of the experience is going to their home, Allswell Cottage, cook all the crabs. It is fresh and super delicious. We both really love the experience and really happy we sign up this for our time in Vancouver. And, I really like the Allswell Cottage, and for sure, we will come back to stay here for a few days to enjoy the beautiful and peaceful environment.
