What you'll do

Our boat is a small, comfortably equipped cruiser sailboat. It has a rated capacity for five people (skipper plus four) but for comfort I would prefer to take no more than two guests who will have the forward vee birth. The boat has a 10hp motor in addition to sails. Guests will be able to fully participate in the operation of the boat as crew, or should it be necessary I can operate the boat single-handed. Guests will arrive the morning of the voyage with their food and drink for the day, their personal choice of provisions can be bought from the local supermarket and loaded onto the boat for a morning deep water departure (the boat is in a marina). The day will be spent sail cruising between the Balenas and Winchelsea islands and the Sunshine Coast - it is intended of course that the trip will be a pleasure cruise and not a test of endurance, if the weather is bad we won’t go on the trip and any monies paid by guests will be refunded. Expect to see coastal Salish Sea that can only be reached by boat, seals and sea lions, lots of birds, do some fishing, there might even be some whale sightings but no promises!

Jonathan

When me and my wife moved to Nanoose Bay we bought our 25foot sail cruiser and I have learned the art and craft of sailing along with the details of the Salish Sea/Straits of Georgia. After completing my Small Vessel Operators Permit, I completed the Canada Power and Sail Squadron boating course and radio operators course then, three years ago I completed the Transport Canada Commercial Skipper’s qualification that licences me to skipper charters in our boat in the confined waters of the Salish Sea that lies between Vancouver Island and the lower mainland of British Columbia. I have offered skippered day sailing charters as an activity to our stayers in our Airbnb properties. Skippered sailing expeditions will be multi-day trips with overnight anchorage around the islands and sounds of the sheltered mid-Salish Sea.

What's included

Equipment
Wet weather gear, safety gear and some fishing rods

Where you'll be

The sailing cruise will explore the coast of the mid-Salish Sea between Nanoose Bay and Fanny Bay on the Vancouver Island Coast and the Sunshine Coast of the Lower Mainland of BC. We will take great heed of the weather forecasts and avoid any heavy weather.
