What you'll do
This experience will take you behind-the-scenes and give you insight into the journey a cat takes from admission into the Cat Protection program to adoption. Along the way, you'll get to meet some of our resident felines who are waiting for their forever homes. You'll learn about shelter medicine, cat behavior and health, and get a crash course in how to read cat body language. Kitty cuddles and photo opportunities are, of course, high on the agenda. After an hour at the shelter, it will be time to tuck the little ones into bed—after all, sleeping 18 hours a day takes time. Then we'll stroll around our neighborhood, and I'll point out cultural landmarks and the great eateries and small bars that make Enmore Road a food and drink destination. We'll stop to enjoy a glass of wine and a chat at one of our favorite local spots, Cittavino. We'll then say farewell and you'll be ready to choose your own Enmore Road adventure for the evening.
I've had the privilege of being CEO of Cat Protection since 2006. I work with a great team of staff and volunteers, and together we serve an ever-changing cast of beautiful cats and kittens. I have just one at home—Lucy, a sassy black and white domestic shorthair, whose mum was a stray rescued by Cat Protection. The inner-west is my home as well as my workplace. I love being a part of this community, which is quite a bit like the cats themselves—curious, resourceful, artistic, preferring peace to conflict, and fond of food.
About the organisation
The Cat Protection Society of NSW Inc
We've been advocating for feline welfare since 1958. Our vision is that every cat has a loving and responsible home. We work towards this through our shelter and adoption services, taking in some 1,000 cats and kittens each year. We provide cat care education and information, discount desexing, microchipping and vaccinations, policy development, and outreach programs.

Where you'll be
We will meet at the shelter of the Cat Protection Society of NSW. Afterwards, we'll explore one block further south and one block further north, which is where most of the small bars and eateries are located. We'll finish our experience with a glass of wine at Cittavino.
