What you'll do

Come relax and enjoy some authentic Portland brews. Together we will spend two hours learning the art of macramé, creating a rope framework. You will learn a larks head knot, a clove hitch knot and, if you choose, the square knot. Almost all macramé involves some variation of these knots. You will leave our session with an appreciation for PNW beverages and an original macramé tapestry! Depending on how quickly you master the knots, your piece may be complete, or it may be a work in progress. Keep in mind that you are making many creative choices, which can be a hefty task.

Melissa

I'm a crafty lawyer (as in a person who appreciates a well-written dissent as much as a hand-beaded tapestry). I enjoy it all-- weaving, macrame, cross stitch, watercolor-- the world of arts and crafts is my oyster. I have been creating macramé since 2014. I first developed my skills creating tapestries, and as my expertise has grown, I have begun making functional pieces, like a chandelier!

100% cotton rope and an Oregon grown stick

Where you'll be

We will be knotting it up at StormBreaker Brewing in the historic Mississippi District in NE Portland. This brewery is passionate about supporting local nonprofit organizations and practicing sustainable brewing methods. StormBreaker Brewing just celebrated their five year anniversary. Previously, this space was Amnesia Brewing, and before that, in the 1980s, an industrial fabrication shop!
