Today we visited Ben Dinh Tunnels via the joyjorneys agency. Ken was an absolutely excellent guide. He already contacted me in the evening and in the morning before picking up directly at the hotel, he said it was coming. We drove in a smaller group in transit. Ken told us all the way to the tunnels, he told us about the history of Vietnam, about their national symbols, now about the celebration of independence from the French colonization, and the war with the US, with the now major celebrations of the 50th anniversary in Vietnam since the end of the war. Ken has a tremendous knowledge of his country and his narrative is very sparkling and authentic. He already has a lot of experience alone with tourists with the US to tell about the war with, but he also learned a lot from his dad and grandfather who were at war. We had a break at LAM PHAT Handicraft and Handicap Factory on our way to the tunnels. Delightful handmade, magical products. Ken's amazing talk continued the whole time visiting the tunnels.
