What you'll do

You will fully immerse yourselves in the "local life", understanding how the farming culture of growing plants, pruning ancient olive trees and breeding farm animals is in our blood and with all probability the strongest feature that distinguishes Tuscan people.

Who is it for: families and friends (of any age!) that love to have fun and curious to find out more about farming and wine.

We will be showing you our most important Brunello vineyards, introducing the concept of microclimatic differences, and the respectful practices of biodynamic farming. We'd like to explain how understanding and respecting your land is part of Montalcino's culture and it's what allows us to become great winemakers.
You will learn why having a large vegetable garden increases our biodiversity, life and interaction which all have a positive outcome on our wines.

Chiara and David will lead you along an interactive journey through the garden. The tour path is designed as a learning game, purposely made for both younger and older guests. You'll be able to pet our animals, pick, taste and smell what nature will offer us according to the season. Don't worry, we'll dress you up in farmer clothing from head to toe, so you'll feel like one of us and we won't worry about getting dirty.
Other things to note
If you like to be 100% hands-on and in touch with nature, and if you like to get a little competitive, this is the perfect experience for you!

Ciao, I'm Chiara! A few years ago I found myself thinking that life was too short not follow my passions.
If you feel like there’s something out there that you’re supposed to be doing, and you have a passion for it, then stop wishing and just do it! This is how I came to Podere Le Ripi.
Since then, my days are led by smiles and passion in what I’m doing, by sharing my passion for wine and by enjoying the Tuscan countryside.
Did you know that in order to be a Great Winemaker you must be a Great Farmer first? Have you ever asked yourself why wines from Montalcino are so good? The answer lies in the Farmer’s gene. I will lead you behind the scenes, through the garden, vegetables, animals and vines, making you experience the Tuscan farming culture and the most authentic sense of place.

Phenomenal sustainable farming experience in Tuscany for the entire family. The farm sits in a beautiful location overlooking the vineyards and rolling hills of Tuscany. We have a two year old son and a newborn. Our two year old is incredibly passionate about animals and farming. We were given hats and T-shirts to wear (and to keep) at the beginning of the experience. He harvested eggs from the chickens, fed donkeys, goats, sheep, cows, ducks, and pigs. We learned about the history of the olive trees on the property. We harvested vegetables in the garden, eating tomatoes, pulling out onions and carrots, collecting basil! We tasted wine and olive oil/bread while our son explored the garden. We then had an incredible tour of the winery, learning about the production of wine in the region. We tasted five wines and ate a variety of salamis, cheese, and bread during the tasting. We then were given all the vegetables and eggs we harvested to take home! We thoroughly enjoyed learning about sustainable farming in Tuscany!
