What you'll do

This will be an unforgettable salsa night! We will show that Medellín is also at the level of great salsa capitals such as Cali or Havana. For this reason we will start with a mixology class in a bar, to warm the body for a salsa class by a professional where, in addition, you will meet other people who have the same passion. After learning the basic steps, we will go to one of the best salsa bars in the city to practice what you have learned and get to know a place full of salsa lovers.

I am a 23-year-old who, when I was 12, I founded an NGO to work in vulnerable neighborhoods in Medellín on social and environmental projects. Since then I have also participated as a young guest at several of the world's most important meetings on climate change and sustainable development of the United Nations. After traveling through more than thirty countries on four continents, I decided to create my own tourism company (www.wayacantours.com) to develop more responsible tourism that contributes to the quality of life of the communities visited and preserve our traditions, like Colombian music and dance.
I believe the most important value Colombia has is its people and culture. But the new generations are forgetting our folklore. That´s why I want to offer a tour to learn and live the experience of what makes Colombia unique.

Where you'll be

We will start at 7 pm in Selina Bar where a mixologist will teach us how to prepare some good cocktails and drinks to surprise our friends and family. Then at 8 pm the salsa teacher will teach us some movements that then we will practice in Son Havana, one of the best salsa bars in town. Remember I will be all night with you teaching you extra movements and having even more personal leassons.

Another great experience from Mateo. I’ve never listened to salsa music nor danced and I walked away with some basic knowledge to build upon! A great time!

After a professional trainer had given us a salsa class we got the opportunity to practice at a a very authentic salsa club. This club, where people of various skills meet to dance salsa, was a real local experience. The vibe and the atmosphere of the club made it a great place to practice what we had previously learned. Mateo was a great host throughout the tour and also turned out to be a knowledgeable salsa teacher.

Matteo was amazing! He was very friendly and fun to hang out with. The salsa class was very fun! But definitely exhausting. The class is held at the hostel and my wife and I were to tired after to go to the club. Overall I was very happy with the experience and I'm sure if I had went out I would have had just as much fun as I did before. The price is far better then anywhere else so the class is great if you just want to try it out and not have to pay a ton of money.

What an evening! Incredible! We had a great drink to start the evening, this made me come in mood for dancing. The teacher learned us the basics of salsa. We also had advanced salsa dancers in the group; it all mixed well. After the class, we went to this local salsa bar. It was on a weekday (Wednesday) but still the whole bar was full with locals dancing salsa. I also made a dance on the dance floor, as a beginner; the locals were not annoyed that I was a beginner, and they even wanted to teach me more salsa steps. It was a very fun night in which I felt part of the local salsa scene! Thank you for this tour, I will recommend it to my friends!
