What you'll do

About the tour We will meet at Kenrokuen Mayumizaka entrance. Kenrokuen is one of the three most popular traditional gardens in Japan. By comparing the view in front of you to pictures of gardens in other foreign countries, you will be able to see the uniqueness of traditional Japanese gardens. This is an academic tour of cross-cultural studies, and can learn about Japanese history and culture deeply. Also, Kenrokuen garden has many spectacular views. You can relax by walking around and enjoying its beautiful views. I can be your personal photographer, and send the pictures to your e-mail. At the end of our tour, we will visit “Kanazawa Jinja”, which is a popular traditional shrine. I will teach you so you will be able to experience the traditional worship rituals and make a wish to the Japanese Gods if wanted!

About me Hi, my name is Shinri. I have lived in Kanazawa for 20 years. I myself will welcome you at Kenrokuen. Currently I attend Kanazawa University. For my liberal arts class, I took a class called “Kanazawa/Noto and World Culture”, and learned in what ways Kanazawa’s culture is unique compared to that of the Western culture. At the end of the class, I received a S grade, which is the best evaluation from the professor. I also love and know a lot about history. I have visited many historical places in Japan such as the old Sekigahara battlefield and the Buddha statue in Nara. Therefore you can ask me any questions about Japanese history and tradition. Though I've never been abroad, I've acquired English by interacting with many foreign friends. Let's have an interesting discussion about our culture!

Then, we will conduct our worship at Kanazawa Jinja. It's a popular shrine for local people, but not a famous tourist spot. You can learn the right way to worship and make a wish to the Japasese Gods. We will practice the worship together!
