What you'll do

We'll start by going through demonstrations about the basic ways to use the machine for 15 minutes. - how to prepare an espresso on a commercial machine and at home, - how to steam milk for the perfect latte We'll move onto hands-on practice for the evening, having one-on-one time with our espresso machine at the shop as well as coaching from a competitive latte art barista. This will be the majority of the evening, being about 1 hour. - how to prepare and present the coffees to guests for house parties and cafe service - how to evaluate milk quality and the basics of pouring latte art - how to create the "Monk's head", "Heart", "Tulip" and "Rosetta" latte art designs Throughout the whole evening, the lattes can be served for all guests with regular milk, soy, almond or oat milk. As well, we'll be using Cafe Triangle's signature coffee blend.

Learn more about Michael

Michael

My name is Michael, I've been a professional barista for 6 years and am lucky enough to have opened my own shop here in Montreal to share my passion with others. I have had the pleasure to manage over 10 coffeeshops and train more than 60 baristas from the ground up. Over the years, I discovered that I loved having the chance to introduce people to coffee and the craft of latte art is often a great starting point. When it comes to being a barista, I try to remember that I'm given the privilege to serve people, not just coffees. I've competed in local, regional and national competitions for latte art and am constantly training and competing in latte art competitions to keep my skills top-notch.

Where you'll be

The event will be taking place just a few subway stops from downtown Montreal at Namur Metro on the orange line inside my cafe. We have an 80s vibe and we keep it funky with neon lights, indoor palm trees, and great tunes. The cafe is situated in the lobby of an office tower just steps away from the subway station.
