What you'll do

Calling all classroom educators, homeschoolers and student teachers! Come join us for a fun, engaging and authentic evening of professional dialogue and practical ideas to use with the students you teach.

We’ll begin with a digital introduction, as well as some snacks and tea. Then it’s on to teacher talk!

I’ll share some of my favourite lesson plans, and demo how I use technology to support both instruction and assessment. If you haven’t heard about the SAMR and TPACK models, you will tonight, as we share experiences using technology to foster intentional learning and reimagine classroom possibilities! We’ll consider practical examples of how digital tech can support literacy and numeracy, and help you enhance the way you support student skill development in your class. Bring your device, as you will have a chance to try out some my favourite apps.

At the end of our time together, there will be a quiz... but don’t worry, it’ll be a fun one that everyone aces!
Other things to note
Please feel free to bring your laptop or another device, or you can borrow one of mine. Also, please note this is a strictly non-smoking experience. Finally, if you would like to book a date other than what is listed, please reach out; I can often accommodate! :-)

I am a certified teacher, licensed pilot and mother of monozygotic twins, with over 20 years of classroom experience in all kinds of settings, including teaching teachers online and in-person. I also homeschooled my own kids for one year, while travelling and volunteering with teachers in Argentina! Now I work as an education officer with the Ministry of education, in Curriculum, Assessment and Student Success.

As an instructional coach and provincial workshop facilitator, I enjoy hosting groups of teachers who want to engage in their craft! Whether you are a newer or student teacher, a homeschooler or a seasoned veteran looking for fresh ideas, I look forward to sharing my expertise and learning from yours, to better support the young people in our lives!

Where you'll be

We will be spending a cosy evening together on the top floor of my west end apartment, overlooking the lake and city skyline. Get behind-the-scenes insight into where real teachers do most of their lesson planning outside the classroom!

I have a large work table, perfect for our experience, that we will gather around. There are also a number of great local restaurants nearby, in case you want to grab a bite before or after this experience.
