What you'll do

1-day Retreat Up to six guests will arrive on the morning around 8am and be offered refreshments and a meet and greet. At 9am we begin our retreat with a wheel-throwing pottery lesson lasting 3 hours. Around noon guests will enjoy a buffet vegetarian lunch followed by a 30 minute guided meditation. Around 2pm, after the meditation, each guest will receive a private one-on-one chakra and aura healing lasting about 30min- 1 hour per person. Meanwhile guests can work freely in the pottery studio for another two to three hours. Around 6- 7pm a light vegetarian dinner will be offered. Afterward, guests are free to use the pottery studio, walk to nearby parks, and or lounge in the gazebo. Our retreat comes to a close at 9pm for the day. Guests clay work will be left at the studio to be bisque fired and returned to guests as bisque-ware at a later pick-up-date.

Learn more about Laura

Laura

I am a ceramic artist, teacher, healer, and world traveler. I have been passionately pursuing art for most of my life. I have 20 years experience working with clay that began as a year long apprenticeship with a potter in Germany. Most of my interest has been in wheel-throwing and hand building methods with clay, as well as, teaching courses that expand these topics such as glaze chemistry. I've taught at various art centers in Durham for 9 years. After attending Graduate School at Arizona State University for large-scale interactive sculpture, I have moved back to Durham with a strong drive to teach privately in my home studio in combination with a spiritual-meditative theme. I'm excited to create a clay learning retreat that includes mindfulness practice. I love hosting, teaching, and being of service to humanity.
